Crowns or caps are made of porcelain which is glass and cannot be bleached or lightened. You can bleach the surrounding teeth if they have darkened over the years and it may "make the crown look lighter" when it really doesn't change the shade of it, but you may also wind up with the others being way too light! If you bleach, do it very slowly ( 1/4 the time suggested or less ) as to monitor the shade change. We've had patients do this when the teeth have darkened over the years and the crown stands out some. Most get good results but keep in mind, you can't bleach lighter than your teeth were at the time the crown was made. You may want to discuss this with your dentist as he can advise you what strength bleaching solution and how much time to use a particular solution to achieve the desired results. Just use caution since I'm sure you don't want to have a new crown made unless it's really needed. If it is needed due to age or leaking, then I would advise bleaching prior to having the new crown made. That way you can get them as light as you want and then they can match your new shade for the crown. Hope I've been of some help, good luck!

No! These products will etch the teeth (put little microholes in them). Then the stain attaches itself to it way faster. And, the material that they are made of won't bleach, so it will never change.

no because these things remove the things which are more strongly attached to teeth and using them on your cap may make the cap to broke off
