I lost my father, I lost my friend
I loved you to the bitter end
I did not know you, I did not care
I would have met you, anywhere
I never knew him, he did not know
That in my heart, my love did grow
He did not know, that time would tell
That when he left, he left a spell
Some people ask me, who’s my dad
I have his looks, that makes me glad
Now his soul is far away
I love him each, and every day
For those who feel, the same as me
When we were young, we cried our plea
We want our parents, joined again
We know not now, just tell us when
Sometimes at night, I would cry
All thru my life, I wondered why
For my mom, I love you so
Because you never, let me go

there is too many commas... its annoying in it. the overall rhyming is awesome, id give it a 6 personally because i think it seems rather elementary

What a beautiful poem to honor your father with young one. It was a pleasure to read .. Your mother must be so proud of you .. Keep up the good work .....(((Hugs)))) I rate it a 10 +++++++++++++
I would place your work up there with Kipling ... One can tell it comes from the heart .....

[IF]
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling

As a fellow poet I rate this 10, I too never knew my dad as he passed away when I was 3 yrs. I too have written a poem, many years ago. your poem is really lovely, it has excellent word content, your message comes across, and it was a sheer joy to read. carry on writing, it's good to be able to put one's feelings down on paper. Good luck.

I give it a10, 10 and 10, you will be a much better person than your "Dad", but then being a "Dad" doesn't always make a "Father" but the good thing about this is that you recognize your "Mother", who has been and who will always be your "Mother", no ifs, ands or buts about it. God Bless.
