Satanism from the sence of LaVey thought is that humans are ultimately responisble for their own actions, in a sence they are their own God and should live there lives in the manner that they see fit a good an exsample of this is that the Satanists birthday is always considered the highist holiday because they day they came into being is the most important day of there life rather than worship someone elses.
Actually there is no real evidence of child killing or blood rituals performed by Satanists in the past ( there is a difference between someone who calls themselves a Satanist and someone condemed by the church to be one) much in the same way the salem witch trials aren't really evidence that witches exist.

True Satanists believe in a dualistic spirituality in which God represents Good and controls the world of spirit, and Satan represents evil and is the lord of the material world. Therefore, they make offerings to Satan to gain temporal power.
There are several modern groups who consider themselves to be Satanists--particularly the Church of Satan, the Temple of Set, and the Order of the Nine Angels. The Church of Satan was the first of these; this group was founded by a man named Anton La Vey. His followers proclaimed themselves atheist, but then use reversed Biblical imagery and Commandment-breaking as sacraments--including a hodgepodge of psuedomagic. Essentially, they are overaged kids trying to get Daddy's attention by misbehaving.
The Temple of Set and the Order of the Nine Angels are both splinter groups from the Church of Satan, created by people who went out and gained real occult knowledge. Generally, they practice black magick, psychic vampirism, and meditation on the Tree of Death (a reversal of the kabbalistic Tree of Life leading to union with God).

I took a religeon course in College. We touched on all religeons including satanic worship. They believe in self- divinity like satan did. They are into self worship, giving themselfves power through demons and unlcean worship. They take symbols from almost every faith and distort them. Its realy horrifying some of the rituals they do. blood letting, Raping virgins, Mothers sacrificing there own infants- Im not making this up! THis isnt just somthing from hollywood it actualy happens. Lord I pray you come back soon!
