"patience is a great impediment to wisdom rather than ignorance"

No matter how I look at it, that statement is false in general. The only thing that really gets in the way of ignorance is learning. By being patient, we can learn a great deal, in fact it can be a very correct way to become wise. So patience would, in theory, cause quality learning, which is ignorance's greatest impediment.

Also, in general, patience opens one up to learning and therefore to knowledge. If you have patience and knowledge, you will not necessarily have wisdom, but those things will not obstruct wisdom, but there are some exceptions. Fear is an exception for instance.

If one learns fear through patience, then in some specific cases, wisdom might be impeded whereas ignorance would not be. Perhaps the person who said this was refering to fear, or was a fearful person? However, even in these exceptions, with enough patience, one learns to see the rest of the picture, and things like "fear" fade away.

So, in other words, I believe that this is a very weak saying, without much power even in specific cases (which would be exceptions to the general rules).

Im not really sure. It is sort of difficult to understand, but I think it means that 'patience is a bigger obstacle to wisdom than ignorance'. In that case I would prbably say that be patient is a skill, but sometimes it is better to push it aside and to get on with something, rather than waiting for something ro happen.

no pressure on choosing me.
i believe it means that being aware if it but choosing (impediment) not to learn new things to enrich your general knowledge (wisdom), is worse than someone who isnt aware (ignorance) that there are lots of other things that go on in the world apart from what they know. one cannot expect knowledge of stuff to come to them (patience).

The only impediment to wisdom is not asking for it. GOD PROMISES he will give his children wisdom if they ask for it and he "would not have us ignorant" For who is more wise than GOD?

It's true to an extent. If one is overly patient... they are waiting. If they are waiting, they are not experiencing. Experience builds wisdom. The ignorant don't wait, they don't know how.

There is a such thing as waiting too long, see if you don't have the answer, find it, waiting for it gets you nowhere.
