I have XP and I really don't want to upgrade as I feel fine with XP anyway. Give me one good reason why I should upgrade? Bill Gates? It also seems that Microsoft is losing ground to Apple and needed Vista to boost profits.

Microsoft's business model is to release a new version of their operating system every few years, with features designed to make users believe they have to upgrade because the "old" version is obsolete.

i don't know much about PCs or the current soft wares either, but i'm inclined to believe my xp is just fine. in the not so distant future won't the vista upgrade be offered free in a microsoft update? any way with the price variables of $70 - $400 i've heard quoted, who except corporate users would want it right now. the amd operating system bears some looking into....what do you think?

I agree XP is fine for now.

Unfortunately most people are unaware that there are many free, reliable and up to date operating systems available.

My favourite is UBUNTU. You can dual boot it with XP. You also get all of the programs FREE!!!

I'm beginning to think that way. I haven't heard a good word said about Vista since it came out.
