What advantages are there to having an HDMI input on your LCD Flat Screen TV?

HDMI is digital. Component, s-video, composite are all analog.
Also, HDMI has the ability to carry the audio digitally so you dont need a separate cable.

With HDMI, you get better picture and sound quality as long as you get something that broadcasts HD signal over HDMI. If you have a source like that and compare it with component (the 5 colored AV cable), regular AV cable, and a regular cable line, HDMI will by far down beat all of them down in quality.
