It's called survival of the fittest. In this case, Noah and his family represent the fittest humans, and the single pair of animals of each type explain why there is consistency among the members of a species, but not from one species to another. That is, each species came from a single set of parents, just like humans did with Adam and Eve.
But of course, this is all myth and metaphor. Why it is told this way in the Bible is a more reasonable question. Asking "why" of something fictional is not very meaningful. "Because the author imagined it that way" is not much of an explanation, is it?
However, there apparently were a great many large flood events, any one of which might have been thought to be world-wide by the people of the middle east at the time. They were caused by major earthquakes, volcanoes, a few major meteor strikes (one in Siberia, one in Arizona, etc.) which had a great deal of impact on the weather and on the oceans.

Because TOO many people did BAD things that upset God and so he did it... but he promised he will NEVER flood the world again. But now people are doing even WORSE things andso God will surely punish this world ESPECIALLY USA! Thats where all the Bad things are done every single day. Of course also in other countries but especially in USA... I know it's a sad thing to hear but thats true it says something like that i the Bible...
I hope you understand...

Genesis chapter six explains that man's intention had become evil continually. This was when people lived to be 700 to 900 years old. God first cursed man to live no more than 120 years, then decided to blot out man who I created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord.
So I guess we're both related to Grandpa Noah.

You arn't realy asking why, I think you ar asking "did he have the authority?" Look around for someone with more authority and you can't find anyone, the Lord is just that awesome. I realy believe He killed so many so that they could not influence the next generations and keep others from comming to him. Ironicaly, very soon, all the TRUE born again belivers will be the ones dispearing leaving only the unsaved. Its called the rapture but I won't get into it.

Genesis financial ruin 6 tells of an unholy solidarity between the Nephilim, who" were on earth in presently, and likewise after that" and the daughters of fellows," even as the sons of God went to the daughters of fellows and had children by potential of them". Peter makes connection with this in 1Peter 3:19-20, as does Jude: verses 6-7, and again in 2Peter 2:4-5. The flood change into despatched to guage an ungodly international, that had a contaminated blood line. even as God sends out armies led by potential of His chosen leaders, ordering them to kill each guy lady and newborn, and all the animals, and to smash their idols and graven pictures, ect, is change into no longer because God is merciless, yet because He change into attempting to maintain the purity and order of the blood line that could want to offer delivery to the messiah, Jesus Christ.

Genesis 6:13 After that God said to Noah: "The end of all flesh has come before me, because the earth is full of violence as a result of them; and here I am bringing them to ruin together with the earth.

It's all myth..or god is a sadist. Not only did god supposedly drown the entire world except the drunkard Noah, his family and the animals(which he foreknew he would have to do), he foreknew that evil would come right back..which was his excuse for drowning the whole world...little cute bunny rabbits included.

If you are talking about Noah's ark and the flood, It was because of violence. " Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence" Genesis 6: 11.

Boat was full of critters. I guess God knew beforehand there wouldn't be many people to come in when He told Noah the dimensions.
