Well...all of my ink have underlying messages...and because of that, they are "frickin' awesome" to me. (That's what a tattoo should be about anyway, if other people enjoy them, great, but it's really all about you).
My butterfly is formed by a trinity knot (yes, Trinity is my name, so imagine the symbolism there!). Also, I got that one when our buddy from Scotland came to visit us. He, my husband and myself got inked together...so Trinity = 3, 3 of us inked, and the butterfly symbolizes a time in my life where I really kinda transformed (from a caterpillar, per se) and spread my wings and flew.

My waistband tattoo has Japanese characters for "Trinity" on my lower back, surrounded by multi-colored, beautifully blended scrollwork. The scrollwork was designed by my husband and it leads from the Japanese characters around my hips and to the front where there are 3 Japanese Cherry Blossom flowers. Again, with the symbolism of 3 and the cherry blossoms go with the Japanese characters. Also, my sister-in-law is Japanese.

My most recent tattoo, which hopefully gets finished Wednesday, is a fairly large backpiece that starts out as a daisy (my favorite flower) and the stem transforms to a snake (I love snakes!) which wraps around the daisy. I like to think of it as "I'm the daisy, my husband is the snake, 2 become one, the snake protects the daisy". Also, the snake is in an "S" shape, which is the first letter of my husband's name. And it's on my back because he's always 'got my back'. We've been together almost 20 years and through thick and thin he's always there for me. As I said, it's not finished yet, but it should be totally badass when it's finished!

On our honeymoon my husband and I got tattoos. We were married in January, and we both love winter, so we both got three snowflakes on our right shoulders. I love my tattoo because it's sort of like another wedding band only its going to last forever! It's not like super "freakin awesome" to some people, because its just a few snowflakes, but they're pretty and sexy, and they mean a lot to us!

I have a celtic trefoil and trinity knot on my left shoulder blade... there is tons of symbolism in it. I'm proudly Irish, and my favourite colour is green... so it's green (and yellow). The trefoil is made of three hearts, for the three greek forms of love, and the trinity knot has three points, three being a powerful magic number (this is what I believe, at least). It's one solid line... no breaks, also love, which I believe has no beginning or end... it just is.

: )
Yup... thats me!

I have two
my first is a family portrait of sorts, three suns for my three sons, the color of the suns matches my boys eye color. Underneath the sons is a celtic knot butterfly, becuase I am scottish and I love butterflies. under that is two red feathers for my redheaded husband.

Second one is in progress - its wind start just below my hip, curving over my waist to my back, across my lower back and then up my side to the oppostie shoulder blade. the wind has butterflies in it. Its supposed to look like a flight of butterflies curving around me. My artist is awesome and the wind is all shading...and very well done. I get tons of compliments. I got it because I am a bigger, thicker girl and I am finally embracing it. I have wanted to be thin for so long, and felt unattractive for so long and got tired of it. I told my artist to highlight all my curves, to highlight what makes me attractive. He did a great job. I know I should look within and find inner beauty, but this tattoo really makes me feel good about myself. Check out my yahoo 360 page for tattoo pics.
