As someone else said, husband missed homecooked meals. While he actually ate a little better than average while he was deployed, he missed the care and attention that I paid in preparing his meals every day. 3 meals a day at home isnt like 3 meals a day over there. Friday night was steak and lobster, buuut it wasnt Outback Steakhouse steak. So while I couldnt cook for him while deployed, weekly care packages with home baked cookies and personal touches is the best I can do.

I was in Antarctica for 13 months and from Feb - Sept we had no fresh veggies. When the first load came in , seemed like EVERYONE was eating salads!
Other deployments, I never really thought about what FOODS I was missing. Too busy working and thinking about my family. I ATE UP AND GOT OUT.

I'll tell you what i didn't miss, i did not miss chicken. They made everything with chicken. But i did really miss a good steak and good italian food.

Being from the South, the number one food I missed was grits... they give you cream of wheat in the Army.. eewwwww

My husband misses my stuffed chicken breast, and he also misses avocados.
