Its just conjunctivitis. Human baies get it to.
Put some salt in warm water and mix it around till the salt dissolves. When it is cool enough to put on the kittens eyes. Get a cooton ball and dip in salt water and then wipe the eye from the inside (close to the nose) to the outside. This stops reinfecting the eye. After all the gunk has been cleaned off. Then wipe it again one more time.
Do this a few times a day. Even if not much gunk has formed. Keep it clean and it will go away.
And dont use the same cotton ball twice as this will just re-infect the eye.

This should not be an illness. A lot of kittens get this when they are small. At times it could be a sign of something, but for the most part it is not.

It also may depend on what breed of cat you have. I have a half Persian cat, and his breed tend to gunk at the eye more than others. He used to get that gunk in his eyes all the time when he was still small. He has mostly grown out of it by now.

As your kitten gets older it will happen less and less.

You may want to figure out what breed it is if you don't know and then look up specific information on it. (Even if the cat is mixed, if you have an idea as to what main breed characteristics they took on, then you can find your answer.)

I hope this helps.

Good luck to you and your little kitties!

Continue to clean gently with boiled water and soft cloth once or twice a day. Keeping them from getting crusty. My Kitty had that so bad when she was little that she could barely open her eyes. I also used (very sparingly) an ointment that I had gotten from a doctor for my own eyes when I scratched my retina. It was an ointment based eurethramyacin (cant spell it :-)) just enough on the outside rim of eyes after you clean them should do the trick. But I am not a vet. I just know it worked for my daria.

that's relatively not some thing that's wide-spread! If the release thickens or have a green tint to it you need to take your kitten to the vet A.S.A.P. It value me 15$ for an examination and then an further 8$ for the medicine. generally what they call it relatively is the herpes virus. that's no longer something which you would be able to get from the cat yet particularly situations while kittens are saved in a damp section like a barn or an outdoors section..they're services to getting it. particularly situations it may bypass away via itself yet no longer in case you spot thickening of the release. additionally, in case you have everyone who has a newborn...the scientific institution provides them a small tube of eye medicine...thats what i take advantage of. that's the comparable element the vet provide you. purely in the form you have it accessible use it. till you get your little buddy to the vet you need to shop the eyes clean with a heat washcloth! yet dont wait...I even have seen it reason respritory issues and likewise clog their noses to the factor they wont decide to consume and purely provide up. this occurs. no longer a great deal! Getting it dealt with is easy.

A kitten of 3 weeks old shouldn't have open eyes in the first place?

GO TO THE VET! They probably just need bathing correctly but take the kittens and their mum to the vet to get it checked out in case its something which can get worse.

Just use warm water and a soft cloth for cleaning the goo. This can be the first signs of an upper respitory infection, I'd run them to the vets to get double checked and make sure they don't need antibiotics.

This is pretty normal for kittens as their immune systems have not yet gotten strong. Take a warm cotton ball to clean their eyes out several times a day. They will eventually not be mucky anymore.

kittens often have a slight respiratory infection when they are small. just keep cleaning them with worm water like you are doing. it should clear up soon, the more you clean it and keep it off their eyes, the faster it should clear up. DO NOT put any ointment in their eyes. Some human meds and human strengths may harm the kittens eyes &/or their vision. ONLY use meds suggested by your veterinarian.

Your kittens probably have an upper respiratory infecion. Take them to the vets for some antibiotics and the condition should clear up pretty quickly.

Cats always get mucky eyes. With my cat I have to wipe the mess out of his eyes every couple of days. A bit like the sleep we get in the corner of our eyes. If it is over all of the eyes then a quick vet visit should sort it out.
