From what I recall we sort of went through that at the same time the Anti Vietnam thing happened. The American Indians ( the ones in the USA) took over a few places to shine light on the subject. A few laws and treaties were re reviewed, and the story met with some correction in American History Books. American Indian culture was revived and Many Americans that were Mixed, became proud of their Indian parts and past. Movies and TV started Giving Native Americans more respect in story Lines. Nobody can go back and correct what was considered OK for 1550 Man or even 1880 man. Today American Indians are getting us back at the roulette wheel and card table (tongue in cheek) as they are opening Gaming Centers on many of the reservations. For such a sad a tragic beginning that crashed two cultures some glimmer of light is yielded. We Americans (even those that came here long after the Indian wars era) Are Proud of Those we now get to call Brother. It would be a tragedy if we ever loose sight of the wrongs committed and even worse if we did not learn to move on together as a new "ONE".

So we are supposed to put people who have been dead for over 400 years on trial for something that was at the time was a social norm because today we find it wrong?

You know what, you’re absolutely right! My ancestors persecuted my ancestors! How dare my Spanish blood kill my Mayan blood and take its land! I am going to sue and demand reparations for hundreds of years of self persecution!

Any one know a good lawyer?

Look if you are so outraged at something no one today has absolutely any control over and that happened when things like that were not socially unacceptable, well sorry friend your going to spend the rest of your life upset.

Plus 9/11 and Pearl Harbor have absolutely ZERO connection to the events that happened 500 years ago.

I wish every one would stop crying over blood that was spilled, people that were persecuted and or enslaved hundreds of years before any one today was born or before anyone today could stop it or prevent it from happening.

The only thing we can do is work on the problems of today.

If we spent all out rime apologizing for the sins of our fathers we will never accomplish anything.

In a hundred years Pearl Harbor will be a note in a book, I hope people will not look at it and say "Japan owes us!" Or look at 9/11 and say "Afghanistan needs to apologize and pay us!"

History is a great reference tool and helps us understand what did and could happen in certain situations, but it is something we can not and should not change just to make our self’s or others feel better.

The divestment of Native Americans from their lands is worst than 9/11 and Pearl Harbor because the Indians were driven out from their territories not just bombed.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. I review some of the answers and it appears we are talking about "Native Americans," and the taking of their lands. You need to study your history. Y'all were so busy fighting each other (does this sound familiar? Africa, for example) we came in and made use of the land.

The Indians hated each other. That is why we could us them against other tribes. A lot of their religions claimed how they were the chosen people, better than other Indians. Some tribes were considered not worthy of existance by other tribes.

I don't know where you are coming from. The Europeans didn't do anything y'all weren't doing to each other. Study your history and religion.

The Indians and their actions remind me a lot of Congress. They fight amounst themselves and never get anything done. The only difference is we pay them and they don't have spears and bows and clubs. Might help solve some of the problems.

Aboriginal ? You never put up a fight in the first place ! Unlike the New Zealand Maori who invented trech Warfare and actually defeated the Brittish thus prevented any "invasion" or conquering of their native lands. Thereby ensuring that even today they are officially a Nation of "two-Peoples", Fierce Warriors who faught for their freedoms, unlike the Aboriginals we have here !

Politically though they have won, as in Australia the English Colonization in 1788 has been retaught in Primary Schools as the English Invasion ! Political corectness gone mad when you have to start re-writing the history books, personally I find this disgusting ! Its wrong to claim that Aboriginals were a proud people who bravely faught of Colonisation, as they were very much hunter gatherers who lived as dozens of seperate people or nations never united with a common cause or goal, the Aboriginal flag therefore is a contridiction in itself.

easily your wondering about Pearl Harbor is way off. Many did not see Japan dazzling u . s . of america with the purpose to get the U. S. into the european conflict. Many conspiracy theorists aspect to the treaty without interpreting it. Article III states that if attacked the others would come to their protection, no longer in the adventure that they were the attacker. also interpreting dispatches many in the *** severe command did not assume Germany to declare conflict on the U. S.. As for scary, the U. S. easily grow to be utilising diplomatic and monetary the thanks to get Japan out of China (did not understand that this grow to be scary?). The very issues I listen many clamoring for at the same time as coping with Iran, Iraq, North Korea, sound accepted. i have study lots of those conspiracies of Pearl Harbor and none have replaced my suggestions (some thing i have been interpreting for over 25 years). in case you've been 'discovered' you also understand to question those who placed forth the conspiracies to boot. in case you want a fashion on how the authorities lies, take a inspect congress and the expenses they bypass. look on the names of the expenses then see what's fairly in them. Its there that the authorities lies the most, no longer in conspiracies that are quite debunked.

I think you make a good pt and I think that ppl are beginning to realize it now. Especially with the influx of immigrants from all over the world. We are a cause and affect nation... meaning we don't tend to care about things until we feel the effect. Unfortunately, sometimes that is not until it is too late to reverse the problem.

Down here in Australia we celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January every year, similar to your 4th of July in America so the Aboriginals in Australia use that day to complain, whinge and gripe about how their country was invaded in 1770 by us “White people” so why don’t you organise the 4th of July as a day of protest about the “White invasion”

It has been the same families responsible for all of the above. How can they blame themselves ?They will never acknowledge this, it would give them away,.make us aware of the truth. They cause the problems to further their quest for one world government....so they can do as they did in the time you speak of,..that is to move in and take over at all costs and they make tons of money during and after. In this most important time in the history of mankind just having an awareness of whats really been and is going on helps our situation as we try to make positive changes for the betterment of the world and all it's people's.
