I found this to be the best answer:
"for dogs, a chemical in chocolate called theobromine is the source of the problem. Theobromine is similar to caffeine. Theobromine is toxic to a dog when it ingests between 100 and 150 milligrams per kilogram of body weight."

It is recommended that you keep around Charcoal- because it can keep poisons from being absorbed- be warned that it induces vomiting

Here is a link to purchase Charcoal:

If your dog does eat chocolate, try to find out exactly how much chocolate he/or she ate. My dog accidentally ate a packet of instant hot chocolate, and the amount of actual chocolate was minimal, so he was fine. But the vet recommends keeping an eye on your dog watching out for heavy panting, hyper activity vomiting, and seizures.

I don't know specifically, but it's because there's a certain chemical in the chocolate that if given to dogs in a specific amount (more for little dogs, less for big dogs) will cause a heart attack.

all my dogs have eaten chocolate.not heaps though just when i have some i'll give them a little bit. they dont change. chocolate is bad for us as well its fatty and has to much sugar. just in small amounts its ok. but for a dog a little bit is fine sometimes.
they say cooked chicken bones are bad for dogs. none of my dogs have had a problem with them either. never chocked or anything. just gott amke sure there no tiny little sharp bones.

I don't know, but my friend's dog ate a whole bag of chocolates once and didn't have any side affects. Maybe he was just lucky.

There is a certain enzyme, or sugar, in chocolate that will actually start to tear up their stomachs when eaten.

When you give animals chocolate, sweets, ect, it can cause a toxic reaction as well as give them worms if the toxins don't kill them first.
