My psychologist says to scream and yell and run. lol I know it sounds insane....but, it is true!
Stress and anxiety are relieved when we physically exert ourselves.... Kinda like we are burning off the excess energy that creates it....or that it consists of.
He explained it better than I can. lol But, it works! I recommend when you do the screaming part that you might do it into a pillow.....or else, you're really gonna get some bizzarre looks. lol

Most of the things the other people answered will relieve the SYMPTOMS of stress. To get rid of the stress itself - you have to first identify WHAT it is that is causing you stress then dissect the problem. Is there anything you can CHANGE about it that would alleviate the situation? If not, then you have to change the way you look at the situation. The definition of stress is "the body's REACTION to demands made on it" The bottom line here is that it's your REACTION to a situation that causes stress.

Deep slow breaths, hold your breath and count to 3, release, repeat 3 times. Each time increase the number you count to, up to 10. It's simple to do, but difficult to remember during times of high stress.
Just breath.

Keeping stress levels down is important, as it can effect everything in your life.
I find that exercise, meditation and generally relaxing helps.

relax, do some yoga, pray, avoid being around people who cause you stress as much as possible.eat some healthy vegetarian food, avoid any caffeine.
