If you are a govt employee you used to retire after certain age or if you are politician some time they are used to say i am going to retire from the active politics and the cricketers are too if they are not selected too tender retirement etc.,

Two reasons:
1> The industry does not offer any pension plans
2> Who will play the roles of parents if they retire?

I was an engineering manager. There aren't many building jobs I can't tackle. The problem with that is, I seem to be everlasting maintaining my kids' homes. When I'm not doing that I'm planning the next home project for us. Now my wife wants a new fireplace, new laminate flooring, an extra shower room, and all before xmas! I told her "Why don't you stick a broom up my ****. I'll sweep up as I go round. Oh! and I take the grandchildren to and from school and we go line dancing and latin/ballroom dancing. Our friends wonder why I don't put on any weight!!! I wish I could just go back to work, life was so much simpler

Film actors will retire behind the screen automatically if they do not have any offers and their luck does not click.

Its an addiction.....besides when you sacrifice family life/privacy/etc for so many years...how can u just stop just for old age....it would mean they had wasted their lives......i think coz they love the industry so much.....and not coz of the money....by old age an actor/actress would be stinking rich don't you think......

they have pissed all their money away on the hollywood lifestyle and are currently broke, unable to afford retirement--just ask Willie Nelson
