this new higher tax the government has put on people flying wont make any difference to global warming. the same amount of people will fly it will just upset them more that they have to pay more money for the flight and the incentive of the idea is aimed at the wrong people. the people who run the planes should be the ones who have to try to lower the emisions by maybe restricting them to less flights per month. that way they would have to find a way to run the bookings more efficiantly to get every plane full. i used to travel on planes a lot and many of times i would end up on a plane that was only a quarter full and sometimes ive been on planes that only had a handfull of passingers. WHATS GOING ON are these people stupid,i think not. they just arnt bothered and wanted to tax for more money.

The problem with the flights going out only a quater full is that you can't MAKE people switch from a say, 1:00 flight to a 5:00 flight because people have meetings, cruise departures, etc. Trust me, we try. Plus, flights can't simply not go out just because only 15 people are listed. The resources (labor, fuel, etc) has already been used to the point where when flights don't go out, the airline loses more money. The cost structure of an airline is alot more than what people think. Also, if flights were to cancel because of weather, what are we going to do with 800 people when we only have 3 flights going out that hold 137 passengers each? Especially when those flights already have passengers listed? Do you think people will book on an airline that only flies out every so often? If you have a problem with new taxes, that's your government you should be complaining to, not the airlines. WE DON'T GET THE TAX MONEY!!!

i agree with you it seems the emphasis on everything about air travel misses the point these days. kasi the people in charge are soo far from feeling the pulse of the mainstream passengers, they havnt a clue that airtravel would be abandoend altogehter if there were a workable alternative. and thier solution is always to make it still less attractive to us to consider flying. perhapse the solution is to refit mothballed US aircraft carriers as passenger liners, and reinstitute sea voyages on one of the safest modes of transportation in existance. itd take longer but they dont sink easily, and theres plenty of room for 6000 passengers and all luggage. you could fit sevearl titanics on the flight deck, and an iceberg wouldnt faze one.

Isn't most taxes wrong? And the Federal Reserve Note (the one we traded our gold for) steadily declines!
