I doubt it, but if you want to be sure, just ask the clerk at the post office. They should be able to provide you with an actual list of prohibited items.

Every state has a tobacco tax. So if the tax has not been paid prior to the tobacco entering the state then I am sure you are guilty of some sort of tax evasion. I've seen a couple investigations where people were buying cigs from another company and them selling them on the internet through the mail. It was a pretty big deal and the ATF got involved, did some raids, and now these people are looking at some pretty long sentences, 5 years or more.
So I would double check..I know if you're going to sell then yes this is illegal, not sure how to do it legally.

No it isnt. I recently watched a news report about this. You have to pay taxes on them in the state you are living. I know it sounds crazy. On the news report, this man had been buying cigarettes through the mail. He recieved a very large tax bill (over $1000) from the state for taxes. How did the state know? A company selling cigarettes through the mail is required to send that information to the state to which the cigarettes are being mailed.

Gee, I hope not. I buy my cigarettes from a wholesaler in North Carolina (I'm in Brooklyn). I buy ten cartons at a time to save the shipping cost. They are sent to me through the U.S. Postal service. I pay for them with a Postal Money order. If it is illegal then the U.S. Postal Service is guilty as well.

It is against to carry them in a car across state lines, so if you are mailing them across state lines it would be. But do not write on the outside what is on the inside and no one will know.

No, but you are limited to just how many you are allowed--------the laws have changed alot so you should check with the PO and they will tell you just how many cartons you can send if they are still allowing you to do so.

If it is, it must have been just put on the list of prohibited items which cannot be mailed. Check with the USPS.
