No a lot of cats drink out of the toilet. They hate stagnate water. My cat drinks only from the toilet & drips from bath & kitchen faucets. There is a bowl of water right beside her food that never gets touched. I freshen it daily but nothings ever missing from it.

its not unusual at all! I had a cat that did that and he also drank from the bath tub after I had a shower. Cats just do there own thing mostly. But make sure you dont let your cat drink from the toilet for a few hours after its been cleaned... some of the chemicals that we use to clean stuff with are harmful to animals. Just be carefull!

First of all, why is your toilet open in the first place? Isn't that an open invitation to explore? Every morning, I empty and clean the water bowl, fill it with ice and fill with clean filtered water. When all the cats hear the icemaker filling the bowl, here they are. They love clean and cold ice water. I think you would be surprised how much your cat might like it. The only problem is that once they get used to it, they do not like plain old tap water.

Cats like their water fresh. You don't see them drink out of plastic containers very often. They prefer glass and ceramic. My cats will not drink from a water bowl. They insist on drinking out of a glass on the bathroom sink which I fill with fresh water whenever I am passing through. They will actually sit and wait for me to top it up for them with fresh water. Our kitten has fallen into the toilet a number of times while drinking from the bowl and playing in the water. He likes to watch it flush and come back. Weird.

well that's normal for cat also, since restroom is the most accessible in the house that has water. if you don't want that action from your cat. better to close the lid of the bowl . or just let her/him continue that act anyway cats are intelligent animals. they do know if it will harm them or not. make an experiment if you want. pour some liquid soap on the bowl, your cat will not drink from it. i've already tested that since i had a couple of cats before.

It's not uncommon for a cat to drink from the toilet. If it begins asking for a glass to do so you may have an issue.

I have several cats myself that like to induldge in potty water. I really believe it is 2 things. 1. the water is always fresh and clean. 2. it is a cool temperature and they like to chase the water circling in it. Just cats being their curious selves. Just make sure you dont put any chemical in your tank or potty that stays there. As it can poison them.

My youngest cat does that too. He is healthy but he seem to drink alot of water. I don't know why, but just be careful of what kind of cleaners you put in your toilet.
