i'm 17, i work on a commercial fishing boat and we look like **** all day long, so i dont see the point. and its a pretty damn good job, because although its hard i make more money then all my friends. they told me it needs to be cut

Agreed. My boyfriend has longer-ish hair and they also told him he had to cut it or pull it back.
I personally love his hair :)
Anyhow, depending on where you're working, they should have some kind of employee handbook. If there is no policy about males with long hair, they have no room to complain and I'd suggest fighting it.

pfft. sheeeeesh. i noe how u feel. it doesnt matter u have long hair or not. cus, girls wear pants too! and is there a matter? NO! so, the great question is, WHY DOES UR JOB WANTS U TO CUT UR HAIR? u might as well, cut a little so it looks less short and less long. together. and here is the main point, whenever u r stuck in between. like, should i paint my room red or blue? u can put both together! all u have to do is add things up.
and i am just 10!

I prefer somewhat longer hair on a guy but I believe they just make you cut it so you appear more well-kept and professional. You probably already assumed that but I just thought I would voice my thoughts anyways. Hope it's a good job your cutting your hair for lol =)

honestly, you should just put in your 2 weeks and start looking for a job that fits you. You shouldn't be hassled for who you are at work. If its not the hair, it will be something else......work places like that have an ongoing list of s*it they want you to abide by.....good luck!

dont cut it! i cut mines cuz i donated it to the locks of love. now i want it back again. so if u cut it u will want it back too. just put it in a ponytail if u dont already or a bun a manly bun! dont cut it for them watsoever. good luck dude!!!

It does not matter if a guy has long hair but I suggest you tie it up for work.
If they persist then quit-you should be able to have outward freedom to what you do.

maybe you should try compromising with them if you really enjoy your job that is, at my old job we weren't allowed peircings however i was one the top employees so as long as my jewerly was clear they didn't mind me wearing it.
maybe if you can tie it back make it look nice they won't mind so much.
