I've had glasses for 9 years now and have a very minimal nearsidedness. I'm 23.

You can work with an optomotrist to find lenses that will work for you, I'd definitely recommend getting the soft ones instead of the hard gas perms. And this may not seem to make sense, but the contacts with lower water content actually dry out less than lenses with a high water content. You will be able to have a pair of trial lenses before buying an entire prescription's worth.

Also a common misconception is that putting a contact in feels like it does when you touch your finger to your eye. Not at all the same sensation, touching your eye hurts but putting in a contact will only be a little uncomfortable when you first put them in and then you shouldn't feel them at all.

I've had contacts for about 14 years and hate wearing glasses anymore. Took about a week to get used to them but I'd never switch back. I got my first pair when I was 13.

I switched from glasses to Accuvue Oasis contacts and they kick, well, something. Well first of all, your eyes don't get worse when you wear contacts (they do when you wear glasses). They are really easy to wear, plus you can go back to glasses for a day if you want to scrub it out like I do all the time. You just need to get used to putting them in and taking them out, after that it's simple as taking care of them (washing your hands before you touch them, washing them before putting them in).

I think they're a lot easier than glasses. It'll take you a couple tries to get a hang of putting them in and taking them out, but it's a quick process once you're used to it.

You may want to carry around drops, just in case they get dry. Mine do on windy days..lol.

Umm, let's see..

Don't ever sleep in them.

Don't put them in directly after you take them out of their container. Rinse them with some contact solution first, to avoid infection.

And don't panic if one goes into the back of your eye. I did the first time that happened. Just blink a lot, and it will come out eventually..
