I'm trying to think of an interesting disease...?

For my roleplay character. I roleplay Medieval Fantasy, and was trying to think of an interesting disease [like amnesia] for my character.

How about tertiary syphilis? It was pretty common in those days, because of the lack of antibiotics, and it produces some pretty interesting neurological deficits, like "general paresis of the insane" and locomotor ataxia (uncoordinated movements) that might be suitable for interesting roleplay.

Nietzsche and Ben Franklin suffered from it, so you would be in good company!

If so, please know more about "amnesias".
Amnesia is partial or total inability to recall past experiences. It may result from traumatic brain injury, degeneration, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, or psychologic disturbances. Diagnosis is clinical, often including neuropsychologic testing and brain imaging (CT, MRI). Treatment is directed at the cause.

How about multiple personality disorder? Very rare in real life, some debate whether it really exists, but certainly interesting.

That, or perhaps an allergy to the fur of one of the dungeon creatures.
