You don't have to forget him, you just have to let him go. It may take time for you to overcome the pain, but believe me, time does heal all wounds.

You can work on getting over the pain by remembering all the wonderful times you shared with. People come and go all the time, that's part of life. But when they are no longer with us, we have the memories and that's something no one can take from you. Getting over the pain will take time but it does not mean you forget about him. Ask yourself this, if you could ask him this same question, would he not want you to be happy and move on?

Sweetie, I am so sorry about your dad. My mum also passed away 8 months ago and I miss her so much. I am lost without her as she was also my best friend. Life carries on and we have to take day by day. Eventually the pain will fade although we will always have them in our minds. We have to keep strong, our parents would not want us to be sad. Don't worry because they are with no doubt watching over us from the Kingdom of Heaven. Take care and God Bless you sweetie. Email me if you need to talk.

It's hard. I cried until i felt so empty and dried up. The best thing that i did for myself was to get a journal and write everything I remembered about him AS i remembered it. I also put in pictures because after a while i started to forget his face. And that hurt to and made me feel guilty. With the pictures and stories I felt closer, and less lonely. And when I felt my family was ready I shared some of these things with them and it helped some of them to move on as well.

Lost my dad many yrs ago now.
and there's no way you can forget the
memories of your love ones.
Died my loved sister the year after and
the children (2 nieces and a nephew)
was like my children, I'm now their considered
mother.
I believe time will heal and hopefully you
would be able to accept the fact, even it hurts.
You don't need to forget him, you don't need to
change.the only change is he's not coming back.

WELL IT TAKES TIME, THIS PAIN AND EMPTYNESS IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY FROM ONE NIGHT TO THE OTHER. YOU SHOULD JUST THINK POSITIVE, THAT NOWING HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. I NOW IT HURTS WHEN YOU LOSE A LOVED ONE, AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS GOING BACK TO THAT MOMENT IN YOUR LIVE WHEN YOU LOST YOUR FATHER, AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES YOU HURT. SO PRAY FOR YOUR SELF AND HIM EVERYDAY!
AND THINK AND CELEBRATEIN YOUR HEART THE GOOD TIMES YOU SPENT WITH HIM.
SORRY FOR YOUR LOSE! AND HOPE YOU
START TO FEEL BETTER!.

I don't think the pain ever goes away. With time it gets easier, if there is such a thing as easier when it comes to someone you love that dies. You won't forget him. But always remember if you need to cry, cry. If you need to talk, talk. These things help with healing. For me writing was my way to heal.

Just don't try and don't ever forget him good times and bad. Just know that as long as you remember him he is with you. Love never dies it goes on forever. In time the sharpness will wear off, don't try to make it happen.
