My friend and I have known each other for a couple of years now, and ever since I first met him, I was unconciously attracted to him. As more time went by, I realized more and more that I liked him. Now that it's a new year, I noticed that he was making it quietly but at the same time obviously aware that he likes me, too. So now I want to let him know somehow that I like him a lot without coming right out and saying, "I darn near love you." I wouldn't have a problem with this except that he and I are both under the eternal curse of shyness (shyness comes straight from hell, I tell you!) and I don't know how to tell him how I feel. A guy's take on this would be a lot of help right now, because I'm started to feel really clueless.

im not a guy, but this happened to me before. i can share how i actually told him. we were out together and i told him i had a secret to tell him. i told him, " i think, i like you". and to my surprise, he kissed me and said, " me too". i think i was very lucky to have read the signals correctly, but you could try too!

well, usually it's the guy who would show interest, in this case your guy to be is quite shy... i would suggest working on the surrounding environment and paving the way for "him" to let you know he is interested, i nice dinner in a quite restaurant would be a good start.
i would also suggest you go all out on your looks & outfit, but not to much or you'll get a negative affect by getting hin nerviuos.
then move on to deep conversation, heart to heart so to say
that should triger him to be relaxed enough to go ahead and tell you what he feels about you.
or
you could just write him a letter, it's usually easier to express your self to a paper & it's more romantic, tell him how you feel & give him alternatives (i.e and if you don't feel the same way about me i hope we could remain the good freinds we are and not feel acward about the whole thing).
i am sure he will write you a letter back & tell you what you want to hear.
or
wait till a special occasion, such as his birthday, and tell him how you feel through the gift & birthday card, you need to pick a gift that would express this feeling and add a couple of warm words to the card to seal the deal in a matter of speaking.

Hi !!!
Sweetheart, I suggest NOT to actually tell him with words, but tell him with actions!!!!
Like ask him if he wants to go to the movies, or if he would like to go window shopping with you, a cup of coffee, pizza.
Make dinner for him but, then ask him to come and help you with something at home. While he is there you can offer him some food!!!
Look at him and let him know that you like him, without even opening your mouth!!! Be attentive to everything he says, and once in a while, argue about something this will start and give some confidence, to him that it is O.K. to have his own opinion.

You can also drop some hints or just talk to him. But if you are really sure than yes kiss the guy. But you can do it after some drinks so that you can just blame it on alchohal if you find out that he dosent really like you the same way you like him but remember dont get too carried away if you dont want to get into more trouble.

well since your shy I dont know if taking the direct approach with just telling him would help. IF you really cant get around to telling him maybe brainstorm your feelings and then rewrite them when you feel you have what you want to say to him down then you can read it to him from the paper if you cant memorize what you want to say. Someone has to make the first move here. You cant wait around twiddling your thumbs wondering about what couldve shouldve wouldve.........
If you cant tell him maybe have a mutal friend sit with you and tell him how you feel.........
