As far as I know, there is no way to do that. I've been there through 4 manic episodes with my best friend and in his case, there was nothing to do but medicate, usually in an institution because he's a really big guy.
Good luck, take care of yourself.

Well first I have to point this out, there is no real way of stopping manic phases without medication. I have found that writing down your feelings and never reading them after seems to be rather calming and helps prevent them. Try a keeping a diary or writing poetry. Meditation and yoga may be another way to help diminish those thoughts and emotions to a minium.

Good luck with that. I'm not trying to be a smartass, but I have never been able to stop a manic episode not one single time in the past 8 years without medication. I have tried, but it never worked out in a good way for me. Twice when I tried I ended up in the behavioral health unit of our local hospital until the doctors could get me on new meds and get them regulated. Not fun at all, and I don't recommend it. I wouldn't try to get myself through a manic episode without meds...it's not going to be fun for you and it's most definitely not going to be fun for those around you. Besides that, you never know what kinds of trouble you are going to get yourself into while you are manic. Go ahead and take the meds to get through it. Good luck.
