there are several methods to break up with someone you love.
First off you tell them, but I'm guessing you want a better answer. Well start finding all his flaws then make a big deal out of them, and try to make him change into the person you want to be. And then start accusing them of cheating on you.
and then become a drama queen.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it happens for us to fall in love for the wrong person or for someone who doesn't love us back and only want to have "fun". On this case, I agree with you, better to breakup and move on.
Now, answering you, I would say the real reason of why I don't want to be with the person I love. What he has done to drive me to this direction and solution. If the reason is because he doesn't love me back, I would say, I am looking for someone whom loves me too. My love, isn't enough for the sake of our relationship, "It takes 2 to tango".

You have to understand the cause and effects on the relationship. I have no idea what's going on with yours nor is it any of my business but you have to learn how to let go to really love too.
