Suprisingly the belly button piercing is difficult for alot of people to care for, And they are the most common to get infected and/or Reject. Just think that is when they go to a professional.
When you do it yourself your setting yourself up for failure. You wont have a sterilized needle or know the right placement.
Save yourself the pain and wait until you are old enough to get it yourself. It will be worth it!

DON'T. its a very stupid idea and your friend was very stupid for doing it. Belly button piercings are infamous for not healing well and becoming very infected. To give you an idea of how bad they are, I even got mine done professionally from a reputable and very well sanitized business. My piercing however, never did heal properly and was constantly infected. Once it was so infected I actually was physically ill (had a fever and aches and chills) Eventually after a few years of trying to salvage the piercing I wound up having to take it out anyways....I have a large amount of thick ugly scar tissue around what used to be a nice belly button....and it will never go away!
That's my best advise to you.

i know a lot of girls who have done it them selves, i personally don't trust myself so i got my professionally done for $40 at 15 years old. i'd go that route if i was you. but just make sure the needles really clean, and that the needle is like a 16 or 18 gauge or you won't be able to fit regular belly button rings in it

I also did mine myself with a sharp needle. I will warn you it was my most painful piercing (I have 19 total 18 of them I did)
I think you should get it done professionally - you will save yourself so much pain and the possibility of infection.
If you must do it yourself spend the money to buy professional equipment. I have listed a couple places you can buy hollow needles and professional grade jewelry.

Ooh, I would advise waiting. One girl did it herself, and it got infected...she didn't do it right, so her belly button turned black and was oozing stuff and she had to lie on the couch always with a sheet under to catch the junk. Her mother was horrid though, and took forever to take her to the emergency room. She nearly died!
Sorry, that probably didn't really help you...

I did it myself. Take a needle. Let it sit in rubbing alcohol to kill off the germs. Poke, poke, poke, poke, and poke the spot you want it to be at. Its only bad at the last part when its real close to going completely through. Then you manage to somehow get a real bellybutton ring in there. If you get a fat needle thats used for sewing thicker fabrics its more effective.
Only use authentic rings. I got a huge infection from using a fake. It was bad.

okay, here's the right answer to this question:
DON'T!
you may think that what daddy-kins doesn't know wont hurt him, right? but it could hurt you and your relationship with daddy, if you do it yourself and then wind up getting an infection, especially if you wind up with a serious infection (we're talking emergency room serious, here)...how would poor daddy-kins be able to trust his little princess ever again?!?
wait until you're an adult, then see if you still want to get your navel pierced....when you reach that age, you could even have your lips (down below) pierced several times and lace them up, if you want, or even get a "harness piercing" between your two
n i p p l e s and your c lit.....
so seriously, think about what you're asking here

That is so dangerous, if you girl friend should get an infection in her belly, that could cause serious problems. All i know is that you use ice and a needle.
