Is it possible to be close friends with a guy if you have crossed the 'only friends' line with and done more?
Does he want to be friends just to be friends or doe he like me and wants to be friends in hope of a better shot in the future?

It's absolutely possible as long as neither one has any romantic feelings for the other. And even then it's still possible, although it would probably be harder.

Yeah, it is possible to be friends with a guy, a close one at that. I'm a close friend of my one friend and every time we hang out I find out more and more about him and his past... (I've known him for 5 years and the first 2 years we went out on and off, but like it's not like I cheated or he did, he just lived a complete diff. lifestlye than me and he didn't live close because he was always moving)... but we've been keeping contact through email and he has my phone number... we're cool and we don't talk that often but I know we still got that love for each other and everytime I'm around him, I feel like I can be myself, it's an awesome relationship. :)

I used to think that it was but more often than not NO. I have been in the same situation and most of the time one involved party wants more than the other. If you have male friends and you want them tp stay that way don't make out with them; if yoiu sleep with him forget about it. You know in your gut if he s into you and if he tries to play it off and be your friend it will eat him up, make him bitter and eventually come to head in way you won't want to deal with.
I have only 1 male friend that has survived that situation and at 25 there are more that haven't. Best of luck and remeber to keep the lines of communitcation open. Keep feelings in mind a go with your instincts.
