Every single winter, I get really mad at everything. I wanna smash stuff, and I listen to super heavy metal. Every little thing aggrevates me. Am I just mentally challenged? HELP!

Sometimes the things we do has a direct relationship to our behaviour. It is the environment.

You may enjoy heavy metal. But as an experiment, stop it for the next month. Just see if this has anything to do with the way you feel.

Put it this way - you are mad at things over which you have absolutely no control. Like winter. Like traffic jam. If you are stuck, you are stuck. There is nothing in the world you can do. Listening to heavy metal has something to do with it? It helps to perpetuate aggressiveness in you?

Perhaps you are type 'A" personality. Every little thing is a trigger for them. They have short fuse.

Knowing it is the first step towards correcting it. If you let this continue you could get hypertension (high blood pressure) and lead to further complications - also it can affect your behaviour with other people, you job etc....

At least you have recognized it. That is half the battle. Now the other half to win this battle is upto you.

You probably have SAD = Seasonal Affective Disorder. I don't get quite as upset as you but the days are shorter in the winter, so more people stay inside and aren't exposed to much sunlight. Going for a walk or something, for at least a half an hour each day may improve your mood somewhat. We actually get vitamins from the sun exposure, and having less of it will definitely affect your moods.

Go to a lighting store and tell them your problem. You've got SADD (sunlight deficiency). They can fix you up with a full-spectrum lamp. Or, go to a tanning salon. Spend some time every day by a "grow-lamp." Or, sit by a sunny window for at the very least, fifteen minutes a day. When I moved from Florida to Michigan for school I got Depressed in the winter!

Seasonal depression is now a clinically recognized psychological problem; less sun in the winter deprives your body of vitamins it usually gets from the sunlight, and it makes your biological clock's pattern harder to follow, which means your sleep will probably be less regular hence irritability all around. It is treatable so seeing someone might be a good idea just in case.

I absolutely agree with the other Answerer. This is a condition which probably affects more people than you realize.

If this is truly what you are suffering from, I would not call yourself mentally challenged. Whether it's more than SAD or not, you should still talk to a medical professional about your symptoms and possible treatment. See the website below.

And good luck!
