I was just wondering if running helps slim down your waist much cause it doesn't seem like it.

I read somewhere that sit ups and crunches help. But the best thing is stretching and rotation.
If you stand with your feet apart, turn your shoulders from back to front, back to front and not move your hips while your sucking in, wow you feel it the next day and then hold weights. Also I stand with your feet apart and put your arms out to your sides, sucking in still then lean over to your side hold for a few secs then go to the other side, you will def feel this as well. I do this every night and the results were sooooo much better than the millions of crunches that I used to do. Hope you can understand what I meant! And I hope this works for you!!

I can say from my experience that running definitely works your abdominal muscles! Most definitely on the sides of your waist. Any type of exercise can help strengthen abdominal muscles but running has really help develop my obliques (muscles on the side and waist). It may not make your waist smaller but you will be more cut as you lose body fat. Also be sure to swing your arms when you run as this motion exaggerates this movement of the abdominal muscles.

Exercise that burns calories will burn calories all over the body. If the running is slimming your body elsewhere it will slim your waist too. You cant really "spot" slim an area, its an all or nothing thing.

It depends from person to person, depending on your physiology your body stores fat more or less in different 'fatty areas'. If you can usually see weight gain in your butt, for example, that's most likely the first place you will lose it from.
