The oldest known language is, incidentally, Indian - Sanskrit! With historical evidence that it's over 60,000 years old!
The oldest surviving language is, incidentally, also Indian - Tamil, with just a few years behind Sanskrit [though there are arguements that it was first] and just a bit before Chinese!
Incidentally, the national language of India is Hindi.
All the best!
Cheers

What do you mean by the first language?
Each country has a first (official language).
Or do you mean which is the original language of humans?
Or are you asking the language that is spoken by the largest # of people?
Or are you asking about which is the international language for trade, etc?

Euskara, which is the native language of the Basque people who inhabit the Pyrenees in North-Central Spain and the adjoining region of South-Western France.
It is believed to be a language isolate which means in the absolute sense, is a natural language with no demonstrable genealogical (or "genetic") relationship with other living languages........it is not an Indo-European language, meaning that it does not belong to Germanic, Slavic, Celtic, or Romance, nor to any other family. It is said that the Basque are descended from the Cro-Magnon man (early man) and their language goes as far back as then. Also, it is still spoken today and is a living language!

Actually, all languages known today have evolved from the same original language. But the language that has been the same for the longest time is Sanskrit, which by the way is an Indian language. :-)

I would say the first language of the world had to be sign language, and I'am sure you have heard how wonderfully the Indian people can interpret sign language.

Wow. This is almost an impossible question.
Just to clarify....you're asking the "first" language, not the most popular or prevalent language used today?

Auch. You are asking a faded question. I don't know but I don't think anyone one knows for sure. Egyptions were very fluent on their language structure as I can remember. But what do you define as language. It is the gesture and makeing sounds as a languge or as it is now?

The first language of the world is:
Mandarin Chinese.
At first, I thought it was English, but it wasn't.
I don't know the first language of India, though.
