It is not enough to just like the breed you have to be well educated on it. I suggest to get some books and do research on Siberian huskies. they are a beautiful breed but it is not enough just to like them. huskies are not a dog for everyone. if you get one now without properly educating yourself on the breed and then realize that it isn't a match for you, you will be contributing to the over population of dogs in the shelters especially huskies. But as far as pricing it is from 450-800. here are some website where you could start to research huskies. (i suggest you do more than just read these sites)

A Siberian husky puppy from a reputable breeder will cost anywhere from $600-$1000. There is also the option of going to a Siberian husky rescue, where you can adopt an adult dog. They may have some behavior issues because they weren't properly trained in their previous home, but they're all fixable and you might find that adopting an adult usually makes a better pet, anyway. Rescue dogs are significantly less expensive than getting a puppy from a breeder, but the exact price will vary depending on the rescue.

Are you sure you want a Siberian husky? Many people fall in love with a pretty face, because they are stunning in appearance. But few people realize that they kill cats, are high-strung with children, are very vocal, can be stubborn and difficult to train, and will roam without a lot of intention of coming back. They are extremely active, and need way more than just a daily walk. A Siberian husky needs hours of vigorous exercise every day. If you can't handle this every day for 14 years, don't get a dog of this breed. Without this exercise, they will be hyperactive and destructive. Do you have a high, sturdy fence? Siberian huskies are known to be excellent at jumping fences or digging under them.

If you're really willing to handle all this and you have some sort of activity planned, like dogsledding or agility, then a Siberian husky might be a good breed for you. But otherwise, consider adopting an adult mutt from your local shelter. I guarantee that with patience and persistence, you'll find a great dog from the shelter that will match your lifestyle.

A much better question about Siberians is how much work are they?

Siberian huskies are not like normal dogs. They have enormous energy and need more outdoor exersize than any human I know has time for. They need a large fenced yard (remember that they are both climbers and diggers) and lots of extra attention for their coats - really substantial time spent keeping their coats brushed and clean. They tend to go after cats and livestock, and tend to take off when released from a leash. They have a reputation for playful disobedience, and this tendency tends to manifest at the worst possible moment.

All that said, they are wonderful dogs, beautiful and loving and generally very sweet.

How much one would cost is based on it's bloodlines, but you may want to try shelters or Siberian rescue foundations. Because they are so beautiful and sweet lots of folks get them not realizing how much work these dogs are and the dogs end up needing new homes.

There are a bunch of things you should know about dog training but we are going to discuss what I feel are some the most important. Keep in mind that these are only some of the things you should know. Go here http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?T2vj

1. Repetition is the number 1 principle of dog training. Dogs just like humans learn by doing things over and over in order to get better.

2. Dog Training can and should be fun for both you and your new pet.

3. Training sessions should always be short but sweet. I never work a dog more than 15 minutes in a session to keep from losing the dog's attention. You should train you dog at least once a day but never more than three formal sessions a day.

4. Your goal should be that each training session is just a little bit better than the last one. You need to always strive to make the training better, slowly. I mention this because quite often I see people who do daily training sessions but the dog never gets better and it is not the dogs fault.

5. Having patients is very important in dog training. Losing your temper does not work with a canine it simply makes things worse.

6. Exercise is very important in the training process to get rid of all the dogs nervous energy.

7. Taking your pet for walks is very important because it develops serotonin which gives your dog a feeling of well being.

8. Always be sure to give your dog a bunch of praise in your training. It is your dog's paycheck for doing a great job.

9. Never hit your dog. I have heard people say I never hit my dog instead I roll up a magazine and swat it. It's the same thing... hitting is hitting.

10. After each training session be sure to do something that your dog will enjoy. Take it for a walk, throw the ball or maybe even rub its belly. Just do something that makes the dog look forward to the next training session.

These are things that I teach my dog training students as well as my dog training clients. I hope these things will give you something to think about when training your dog. Spend some time training your dog daily and you will both reap the benefits.

We got a rescue purebreed for about $200 :) best money ever spent!! But make sure yoU know alot about the breed, make sure you can devote time to AT LEAST one walk/run a day! They do shed, but a good washing and brushing will help! Good luck & let me know!

huskies are nice but......
you will probably never train it to stop pulling at the leash and walk nicely, and you'll probably never be able to walk it off-leash,
they just take off and head for the horizon. Otherwise they are beautiful, my brother has one. They are about $600-$750AU but i don't know about in the US. ...they are usually NOT vocal at all

Have you checked your local shelters? We get them rather frequently. So, $86.
Be aware that they are not considered good dogs to have with children. Also, if you leave it alone, it will howl. It's a very annoying howl and your neighbors will not like it. Huskies are known for this.
