My neck is stiff and my shoulders are tight. Everytime I rub my shoulder a pain goes down my arm. What should I do? My neck is swollen and so are my shoulders.

Were you in an accident of some kind? Until you can get to a doctor (which you should do), put some ice on it to bring the swelling down. Also, take ibuprofen if you can.

You may be having really bad tension in that area. I suffer from alot of pain and tension in my neck and shoulders and when I rub my neck I usually get a pain shooting down my chest or back. I have gone to the Dr. and found out that relaxation techiniques work well. Lots of things can cause tension. In my case it was a combination of stress and using too many pillows at night! You should see a Dr. Hope u feel better.

You should go to the doctor to rule out anything serious.
Also, you might want to visit a chiropractor. If you have a pinched nerve or the discs in your neck are out of place, it'll cause some horrible neck and shoulder pain.

I had the same problem for a while. Come to find out it was only cuz i slept on the couch and my muscles around that area were just really sore. Could be the position you sleep in.

Get your XRAYS of cervical spine don . You seem to be having cervical sponylosis..
