A lot. You can learn from the person Job...his life, his faith and total trust in God even when he lost everything material in His life....He
believed God gave him everything and could take it away and He still knew God loved Him and that He loved God no matter what.
You can learn a lot about Who God is by reading what He said to Job and to Job's friends.....He describes His own power...often in an almost sarcastic tone...asking...can you do this?....and telling the awesome things that He has control over. I often re-read this book to remind myself of God's own description of His own power.....it is awesome.
And we have people who think they control the universe instead of God. Not so!
You also learn something about the debate between God and Satan....how God already knew what Job would do...yet He allowed Satan to test Job....but only God could take Job's life....and then God rewarded Job by giving him more than he had in the beginning.....It's a fascinating book.

Great question, still thinking, I love the book of Job. Many lateral connections to my own. back in a sec. O.k. Long second I guess as it is now 21 hours later.
Never give up on God. He knows our hearts better than we do and I guess Job could handle what God allowed to happen.
Never let your friends judge you or others as God is still the only one who knows your heart better than you do.
God always out does himself when the testing is over.
Friends mean well but they see things through human perspective.
It is natural to want to question God and what he does but he always has a greater plan.
God will use us in a game of chess, there is a spiritual war going on out there, are you a pawn or a knight?
So that is what I have learned from the book of Job. I am sure I could spend more time how I went through hell and back and was tested but came out stronger and more blessed than where I started. And I am still remembered for what I have done and the endurance I had even though I am no longer part of that life in the past.

Job sets straight the idea that 'you get what you deserve'. That's what Job's buddies argued with Job about - look at how terrible your life is, you *must* have messed up. Job says no, I didn't! God sets the whole thing straight at the end - basically, who are you (or who are we) to assume you understand all the reasons why God allows things to happen. Job is lifted up for his faithfulness, and his buddies are put in their place by God. Moral of the story - (1) you can't say that just because good things or bad things happen to someone, they are in God's favor or not in his favor, and (2) God is God, and we are not. Don't pretend to know more than God has told us.

Not much about God, actually, except that he never explains anything. I learn more about religious know-it-alls who offer fake sympathy and useless theories instead of real relief to the suffering. Mostly I learn that there was at least one Bible writer who noticed that bad things happen to good people and vice versa. Unfortunately, he didn't have a better explanation himself, but at least he brought up the subject.

The Book of Job is a study of the problem of evil and how God uses evil that happens in this world to manifest His glory, chastise the unrepentent, temper (make stronger) the righteous, and draw others nearer to God.
As the last few chapters demonstrate, God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, since He is, well, God! And since He is our creator we cannot whine, just as the pot might say to the potter, "why have you made me thus?"

Personally I get that we should never give up praising God even when it's really hard to do because God is in control and if we only trust him he will reward us.

Job was arrogant and self righteous, and God had to reduce him to nothing to break him of it. Job was also upright and a perfect man, meaning that he was teachable.
