furthermore, think of the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent building ridiculously ornate churches. That money could have actually been spent as Jesus would have seen fit, helping the less fortunate.
-Some will say "A house of God needs to be a house worthy of him"...which is completely illogical considering the teachings of Jesus.
(It is OBVIOUS that religion wastes resources)

In a manner, a person fasts when going on a diet. Nothing wrong with that. Fasting in religious circles is usually to show a willingness to give something up, to sacrifice in this case not eating something) to show loyalty and show a little sacrifice on our behalf because Jesus sacrificed so very much on our behalf. I don't know about throwing food in the streets. I can't say that I have ever seen that done. I don't suppose it's something like a bunch of hamburgers, fried chicken, etc. Fruit. I've never seen it done but I doubt that it would feed an army. Flowers- Show beauty. Like flowers at a funeral. They are pretty and show thanks

Fasts are ok. These religions never advocate fasting when you are not feeling well, do they? fasting instead improves health. It's as good as dieting. It keeps your system stable.
About wasting resources. We waste more resources, by consuming undue electricity, wasiting water, litterring large amounts of paper, using plastic bags etc. Flowers and fruits are bio-degradable things. No harm in offering them for the sake of your faith.
If you can use them in better ways, you can always use them. The religion doesnot say it's necessary to offer these things, it just says that it's customary.

No. No religion taught to spoil health & waste resources. Hinduism is not a religion. It is a culture, tradition, custom, etc. Islam strictly forbids spoiling health and wasting resources. Fasting in Ramadhan is not required if spoils health or endangers life. Offering flowers/fruits is not in Islam. Burning crackers, throwing colours, consuming alcohol etc. are strictly forbidden in Islam.
Muslims firmly believe and strictly practice the teachings/commands of their holy book Quran & their Prophet, which is their Code of Life at all times/places. They have the written, clear and unambiguous teachings to guide righteous or wrongs, pious or evil, fair or unfair, etc. They follow them blindly in matters of responsibilities, liabilities, rights, daily life, marriage, private & public relation, business, trade, earning & spending, etc. and do the righteous and refrain from bad. Anybody may read, satisfy, accept and practice it.

fasting is actually good for the body and mind and soul.
Ayurveda consultants actually ask u to fast at least once a week to give u'r stomach a boost of rejuvenation .
mind and soul coz...it is a voluntary sacrifice of a meal we are doing for GOD....it gives a feeling of goodness and peace.
besides by fasting we understand the hunger of all the poor hungry people..and we'll be more charitable.

Its upto the person who does it. No religion says to throw food away.
However, If it gives confidence to live happily, then its worth throwing even gold.

Religions do waste people's time. Religion's are nothing but a method to oppress people. So, my request to you is don't waste any more of your time by asking questions related to religions.

all i can say, if you have a religion, just follow the orders.. if you need to throw something, then throw. you don't need to ask questions. just follow. if you have faith on your god, then obey but if you don't have, then don't. There are questions that do not need answers.
