Sorry about your dog, that's awful. I would never have left it alone in the yard if I knew those pits were chewing through the fence all the time. Why didn't you call the police when you knew the dogs killed your Yorkie? Especially since you have children that could have been attacked! They went after you and you still didn't call the police? Something is wrong with this story. Do you think the insurance company is just going to take your word for it and cut you a check? Their insurance company will probably not do much since you have no proof other than a hole in the fence and you will have to file a lawsuit and they will bury it for years. You not calling the police when this happened is going to make them think you are lying.

Start at the beginning of this tragedy and write it all down. Get as close as you can to dates and times of the incidents. Take pictures of the damage to the fence. Then call the police and make a report. They will talk to your neighbors and if they think it is necessary, they will get the name of the insurance company or make the neighbors call the insurance people to come and look at the damage.
I don't know how the police will handle your dog or cat going missing. You should have proof of how much you paid for each of the animals. The police will want that information too. I would also have all the Vet bills from the time you got the puppy. That is all money you would have to pay out on another dog.

I am very sorry about your pets it is a shame when people do things like this, and gives what are ordinarily good pets bad names. On a different note. Things are different concerning pets being killed by either a human being or a pet of a human being.I don't remember whether it was January or the February issue of a magazine called Bark, but with people having less and less children and wanting pets and considering them children laws are in a time of change. The magazine had talked of people going to court because their family members were killed by either human or animal and some people got a settlement equivalent to that if an actual child had been severely hurt or killed. So as the other people had said make documentation of the holes, and call the cops so that there is a report, I don't know much of what they would be able to do other than have the neighbors give you the homeowners insurance. Also see about hiring an animal lawyer, see if you can't find that issue of Bark it might prove to be very helpful, people like that need to be shown that these creatures whether considered a "bully breed" or the most docile pet on earth should not be used or tried to be used in killing an innocent creature like that.Good-luck.

I would call the police so that there is a report of it - call you local humane society to report your dog missing - this way you have a report of it - and make sure you mention it to the police so it gets in the report..
call your insurance company so that they can do a write up on the damage - go around and price fencing - get written estimates on what it would cost to replace and/or repair your fence
once you have all the estimates (at least 3) and all the reports - the sue them in court.
make sure when you go to court you take pictures of your damaged fence - your dogs akc papers and if you have a neighbor or other witness that knows how there dogs acted or saw then chewing on the fence - take them as a witness
when you fill out the court papers to sue them - make sure you put down mental anguish for the loss of your dog..
hope this help - good luck - show those people they cant get away with it !!

There is no proof that the dog ate your dog or cat. Your dogs disappearance is directly related to the pit bull. You need to file a police report and take plenty of pictures of all the damaged areas. Ask the police where the animals would be brought if they were found. Go down there and check it out. See if you can file a report with them (or at least get written proof that you were there). Call the ASPCA, file a report with them and ask if there have been other complaints filed against them. If so see if you can get copies of them or something in writing stating the previous reports.Get 3 estimates to have the entire fence fixed properly. You will need your receipt for the dog (if you don't have one, you should be able to get a copy from where you got the dog). take him to small claims court. Bring all of your receipts, files and estimates. You should get reimbursed for your dog and the fence, as far as the cat, unless you have physical proof that it was the pit bull, you are out of luck. I would also look into adding a monetary amount as punishment for him being negligent. When you win, there are ways to get your money, so post that question in the future if you need it.

okay here we go again another reason people should not own this breed . You are out of having a fence repaired and a dog replaced . Call the police ,animal control , the local news media and anybody else you can think of . let the ppls pictures be plastered on the local news then i bet you will get a response from somebody including their insurance company . someone has to pay for your fence and your dog . they probably buried your dog somewhere thinking that you would think someone stole it or it ran away . Dirty buggers that is so low . and now your cat is gone . they probably buried that too. what kind of low life they are not to give you their insurance carriers name . Do they even have insurance ? I am wondering about that . if they dont then you will have to take them to small claims court or call your carrier and have them sue them for the money to repair and replace . I mean it is only fair . This is why I will not live next door ,across the street or anywhere close to someone that has one of these dogs . It makes me sick . when is enough ,enough with these dogs ?

Hmmm, got your dog, and you cat and 2 weeks later it almost got you but you didn't call the cops? Carol you are full of crap. This story has more holes than your alleged fence. You know this dog can get through the fence but you let your yorkie out unsupervised anyways ? Did you stick an apple in its mouth and put it on a silver platter with a bed of greens first? All you are worry about is getting the name of the insurance company? This is the best sympathy milking story you could come up with? People are so gullible

You can call the cops, file a police report and you will get a very nice letter that says they are too busy to investigate such a minor crime.
You can go to small claims court. Take pictures of your dog and the fence. As part of your case, you can ask that they produce the dogs. When they can not, you can ask them why and they will have to say why. But do not hold your breathe. Even if the judge says they have to pay you something, there is not much you can do if they do not pay.
You can file a lawsuit against them but you need some proof. Your dog was probably dragged to their side and chewed up and they got rid of the body so there is no way you can prove their dogs did the deed. They could just claim your dog ran away.
I would fix the fence so that even a gator can not chew though it, and then get another dog. If they get another dog, see if it likes 5 pound chocolate bars.

You need to call you local poliece and file a report. Becaause the dog was killed on your property you must be the one to make the call. You may also want to contact your local Humaine socity or ASPCA to file a report. This will get the legal ball rolling and will force them in to giveing you the information you will need to fro any kind of litagation. Hope I helped.

NO, it actually isn't obvious that the pit bulls ate it. Before you get involved in an expensive lawsuit (and trust me they cost money), don't jump to conclusions just because of their breed (check out the first link below). Maybe they just broke the fence and your dog escaped. In that case, you shouldn't start throwing around accusations about "pit bulls" (it is really hard for owners of good pit bulls to deal with media sensations like this -see second link, and besides there are tons of other breeds of dogs who do things like that everyday) because it is really the owners faults for neglecting the dogs and not the dogs fault for escaping.
