It is possible thathe may hve had an allergic reaction to someting he has recently eaten. The red bumps could be the tastebuds on the tounge, but b/c the tounge is swollen they are more prominent. If he has recently eaten something out of the ordinary and does not know the ingredients, allergic reaction is a strong possibility. If there is any itching or other swelling present it is probably an allergic reaction. Have him take Benadryl, it is an antihistamene and will reduce the effects of the allergic reaction. He should followup with a doctor asap if this works. If not, get thee to the ER ASAP.

My daughter's does this with nuts, even gummy bears. She sees and allergist. My granddaughter does this with wrinkle nuts, not peanuts.

So, it could be an allergic reaction to something he uses daily. Even his toothpaste or mouthwash.

So try an antihistamine and see if the swelling goes down. If it does then you know it's an allergy.

Either way you will probably need medical attention to this.

I wish you the best.
