My son is 2.5yrs old. He is completely potty trained..day and night. My question is this....during the day, when he goes to the bathroom to go potty, he has to get COMPLETELY naked. I have recently been able to convince him to leave his shirt on, but the pants, underwear, shoes, socks....everything else comes off. Do other kids his age to this? He even has to take them off just to go pee.

an after thought....i had a cousin(now 20yrs old) that would get completely naked to go to the bathroom until he was about seven years old..even in public. Guess I should just be glad that my son only does this at home.

My daughter did this to. She is 4 now and will still take off her skirt and undies. If she does a poo she will get completely naked. I have no idea why. Maybe its just more comfortable for them. I know she has difficulty staying on the toilet with clothes on as she gets all tangled up. And then she cant get off the toilet, without falling.
Just leave him be. As he gets older he will grow out of it.

All toddlers go through a time of not wanting to wear clothes period. My daughter would be in our front yard and start stripping. So I would put her in the back yard where we had a fence. It's really not a major issue. Sometimes I think they have the right idea...afterall we don't come into this world wearing clothes.

I think it makes him feel comfortable enough to go potty, my husband still takes his shirt off to go potty(no joke) and his children are the same way...I know it's a pain but I wouldn't worry about it MOST children grow out of that stage...

I guess it's something that comforts him. Maybe you could talk to your son's doctor to get some ideas if you wanted it to stop. But i'd say as long as his only doing it at home than it's fine. If visitors come over explain to them that it's his way of expressing himself and ignore him. Maybe he does it for attention? Try ignoring it and let him go. He is only 2 so let him express himself.
