1. Yes, some smokers do have a reason to smoke. For me, I was really depressed and suicidal. After being hospitalized numerous times, I started smoking to kill myself that way. If I didn't start, I may or may not be here now; who really knows.
2. I don't really understand the excuse part, but yes, there are chemicals in cigarettes that are designed to get you addicted.
3. Yes, I do think people should quit smoking, but it's a lot harder than what non-smokers think. It's like telling them to give up what gives them the most rewarding part of life, like...watching tv, or going on the internet. Bad example, I know, but it just demonstrates it.
4. Yes, look above. Also, smoking helps smokers calm down from angry situations. Nothing chemically, it's all in the sub-concious. Without smoking, I'd probably go on a killing spree or something...
You're welcome. Hope this helps.

1. i feel that people who smoke either 1. do it to fit in 2. are doing it to get over something in their life or 3. trying soemthing new for a stupid reason.
2. i think peeplz use addiction as an excuse because they know that inside they shouldn't be doing it - and they mentally think that they can't stop, but physically they can - its all got a lot to do with the brain.
3. i think that the world would be alot better if nobody smoked and everyone quit smoking. 1. because there would be alot healthier people 2. one less drug for underage people to use 3. think of our next generation! all these young children look at society and see smokers everywhere, and it leaves an impact on their life.
4. i think smokers don't quit smoking and use an excuse because they mentally feel like they can't stop, but they know that they really should stop. i think that they shouldn't have an excuse because there is no excuse for cutting your life short for no apparent reason.

1.Do you think smokers have a reason to smoke? yes
Why? most of the smokers will give you a reason why they started smoking--such as trying to lose weight. It makes them feel better having an excuse.
2.Do you think addiction is an excuse? yes Why? because nicotine is very addictive.
3.Do you think people should quit smoking? yes Why? so they don't end up with a lung disease and spend what is left of their lives hooked up to oxygen or end up with cancer and a terrible death.
4.Do you think smokers have an excuse not to quit smoking? yes Why? because the addiction is so strong it is hard to quit, Also some say they tried to quit and gained weight. That is just an excuse.

1. No. We don't need one, just like you don't need a reason to drink a coke and eat a bag of potato chips. We do it because we want.
2. Addiction? Maybe. Habit is more like it. We all have habits. All habits are hard to break and most people have no desire to break their habits.
3. Only if they choose to. Just like anything else people do on a regular basis. And I might add, we should all have the freedom of choice without interferences and influences from others.
4. Why do we need an excuse? It's a choice. And quite frankly, I'm tired of people trying to limit my choices with narrow minded thinking instead of understanding that they just might make choices I totally disagree with.
Just thought you should hear a little of the flip side of the age-old argument on smoking.
Oh, and you are very welcome.

1. Probably see it as "joining the friends or associates", or following examples set by parents or persons of power in their immediate circle of family/friends.
Another possible reason for some to continue is they don't know how to keep their hands still and comfortable when they're around strangers and this gives them something to fumble with and do with their hands, but it's really a rediculous reason.
Personally, I believe there is absolutely NO reason to ever partake.
2. There isn't an excuse for addiction. It's a brain response to it's perceived need. We know it isn't NEEDED, however the brain of the addict is conditioned by the addiction to believe in it's perceived need, like needing to breathe to survive.
3. Yes, absolutely people should quit smoking. For their own health and well being and for all of those around them who are forced to ingest toxic fumes detrimental to their health. You know, my grandchild in elementary school learned the physical ramifications of being around smokers and became terribly hurt and almost unconsolable while visiting me. She cried and cried saying her mommy and daddy didn't love her enough to not smoke around her and they were going to cause her to get cancer. She concluded they loved their cigarettes more than they cared for her. I myself have never smoked, am very allergic to any form of tabacco and have always hated it's stench. If you can see the negative dynamics in this one family caused by smoking, perhaps you won't need to ask the Q anymore.
4. No excuse, just a measure of fight. Their bodies have been tampered with by ingestion of a product proved to be laced with high levels of addictive additives and chemicals. Things that are truly worth the effort are rarely easy. Most are just not up for the fight and remain too undisciplined. It's different if it were something like food that is a must to survive. Tobacco is not.
