Breakage is damage so yes there the same. Normal breakage is from ponytails, brushing your hair when wet etc. But severe breakage can occur if you dye, bleach or perm your hair incorrectly or too often. Breakage occurs when the hair is either handled roughly or chemicals are applied. When chemicals are used such as perms, dyes, bleach hair can if not treated correctly become extremely fragile and break.

Damage can refer to many things from breakage, split ends, dry hair, to hair that has been over processed. For example bleaching hair incorrectly can literally melt your hair like plastic.

Keeping hair hydrated is always a good idea. But it will not prevent all breakage or make it safe to overuse chemicals.

Damaged hair means having split and dead ends (like my hair) and 'breakage' means that hair breaks off at the ends. My hair has it all: breakage, split ends and dead ends. I've even used conditioner on my hair, but it still has breakage and dead and split ends. The only way to really get rid of dead and split ends and even ends that break are to trim it, maybe once a month or so.

Damaged hair is more brittle--it has a straw-like feel that means that it is more likely to break. Sometimes hairs break in half like a stick. But usually, the start off as "split ends". A split end looks like a "Y" at the bottom tip of your hair. The only way to get rid of split ends is to have them trimmed off. But don't be scared to get them trimmed off. If you don't, they could climb higher up your hair and make it a frizzy mess.

Hydrating the hair with conditioners can prevent breakage/split ends, but it can't cure it.............did this help at all?
