I have acid reflux pretty bad, and once and a while I throw my food up. Well tonight, there was some blood. And afterwards, even now when I go to clear my throat and spit, it's blood. Not straight blood, but it's definetly red, and it's definetly blood. It was dry heeves for a long time, then a little bit of my food came up. But then afterwards, spitting up blood. Did I rupture my throat maybe and that's why there is blood? Or do you think that this is a serious condition? I have never thrown up and then had blood come up in my spit afterwards. Am I okay??

It's not like I am coughing up blood. It's when I go to clear my throat and spit, there is blood. I did not throw it up. Is it common to have your esophogas bleed after vomitting?

It's been about 10 minutes, and it seems like there is less and less blood as I clear my throat and spit. So is it possible, I just irritated something in my throat??

Sounds like E.R. time. Be very cautious and aware anytime you see blood. You could have just ruptured a small vessel and it's bleeding from all the straining in upchucking, however it could be something very serious. It's sensible to see a doctor who specializes in Gastroenterology right away and get a test done to find out where the blood is coming from and get treatment ASAP. I wouldn't call it prudent to be going this alone in any case, much less asking about it on line. Take care of your body. Seek qualified help and get on with having a good life.

Acid reflux can also eat away at the lining of your esophagus. This can become very serious if left untreated but is irreversible if caught in time. My friend has this and his got bad enough that he had lesions in his esophagus that would cause him to spit up blood. They put him on medication and it got better.

Could be Barrett's Esophagus which is erosion of the esophagus or it could be a Bleeding Ulcer. Both are quite serious and need to be check out by a doctor as soon as possible.

I means you need medical help on an emergency basis. Your mom would make a "huge deal" out of it because it is a HUGE DEAL. If you wish to be so ignorant and not go to the doctor, then why are you wasting our time? This is pure stupidity! Death is the only other option. Terry

Sounds like you have some ulcerations some where. You need to go to urgent care or ER right now and get this checked out. You could have a bleeding ulcer or something more serious like esophogeal erosion from the GERDD. Head to the nearest urgent care or ER and get checked out.

The answer to your question is go to the doctor. The Doctor is your best bet at finding out what exactly is going on. You say you have bad acid reflux, this can cause serious damage to your throat so it could be from that. If you smoke that is bad too, it doesn't help with acid reflux. I should know. I have GERD (Gastral Esophageal Reflux Disease).

You may have a bleeding ulser of bleeding esphoges. If you are throwing regularly than you probably burned a hole in stomach or throat lining from the stomach acid. This is very serious. Go see a docter

If the blood is partly congeled and looks like coffee grains then it could be a bleeding ulcer, your other symptoms suggest this as well.
