How do I Train My Adopted Dog?

Question

I have tried everything and nothing works. I have tried giving him treats and using tips from websites and nothing works. What should I do??

I have tried teaching him how 2 sit and lay down but he doesnt listen!

Can you define 'everything'? What exactly is going on? More info means better help.
*Edit* OK - so what kind of rewards are you using for him? What kind of environment are you working with him in? If the place where you're working him is too distracting, he won't be able to concentrate on you.
Recipe for success:
1. hungry dog
2. bowlful of high-value treats (chicken, ham or turkey, diced; cheese)
3. Quiet, even "boring" room.
4. Short sessions! Always end the session with the dog still being enthusiastic. Don't wear him out.

I adopted my lab from the pound also and she was not podie trained either so I know how you feel right now! lol but dont give up you just have to try hard.

Treat her like a human seriously you think it is funny but it works! If she does something wrong on the floor acted very disappointed in her and point, Say "NO! Bad girl or boy" lol. act like her mom! be stern. and after that let her go outside for time out for about 15 m. and as you let her in tell her how mad you are at her. Now if you dont have a backyard then make her a space to lay like her bed. When she does something bad tell her to "go to bed"! and "Bad Girl"! keep repeating that and she will learn in no time! I promise. Now when shes good and you see improvement give her treats.

we controll our dogs by full eye contact!!! it takes a small while but it works!!!
