I have been on so many diets it is amazing. Ok, let's see, when I was at my worst and couldn't excercise I did very well on Atkins. I was on it for about 9 months and lost about 35-40 lbs. Problem there is that you get bored with eating just protien and salads and some of Atkins foods, and you can find yourself screwing up by eating too many nuts and too many of the "candies" and bars that they have out and put on the weight without realizing itt. It is the kind of diet that does not let you cheat at all. As you can eat so much of the protien you really have to be ever so careful of everything you eat. But, if you are someone who is a big eater and likes a lot of protien, this is a great way to go, and also a great way to start. You can always change diets as you go along, which is what I did.
After I found that Atkins was no longer working for me, and was not at all happy with Weight Watchers, I decided to try South Beach Diett as I had heard so much about it. WEll, I will admit that boy did it live up to all I had heard. The first two weeks of the diet are quite strict and a lot like Atkins, but the first time I tried it I lost almost 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks, and was shocked. I then went onto Phase 2, where you don't lose as quickly, but found that I lost a steady 2 to 3 pounds a week, until I wanted a push, then went back on Phase 1 again, lost 15 more pounds, and now have about 5 more pounds to lose. I have lost a total of about 90 pounds in all. I started at a size 22 and now fit into between a size 8 or 10 in reguar clothing. I'm just working off the last few pounds so I can close the buttons in a pair of Marc Jacobs size 10 black leather pants, which I figure probably run a bit smaller than my regular size 10 pants that he makes. I'm getting close. I'm really happy with South Beach, I signed up on line to get hints for the diet, bought the book and cookbook. And I think what I like most about the diet is that Dr. Agaston (sp) doesn't believe that it is possible to stay on a diet all the time. He says in his book that you are going to cheat, it's only human, and he gives you tips on how to get back to the diet. I think that is the best way to deal. I hate the diets that treat a diet like you have to stay on it ALL THE TIME or you are really screwed and therr is no way back, who can be perfect. I wish you the best of luck.
