If your drinking is affecting your life and those around you,...and yes that's what's happening here, then yes the good news is that you are an alcoholic. Good news because now you have a label on the problem,..now you know you can recover from this lifestyle and get on with a much better life. Many people over 2 million members have had the same problem including one of the guys that placed the flag on the moon, another the head of one of the giant car manufacturers, heads of countries etc etc.
Alcoholics Anonymous, has a program that can turn your life around,...it's free, you're a member if you say you are. They have a 12 step program of recovery. Contact them thru the phone book, ask that a member of the same sex contact you. Get a same sex sponsor that has completed their 12 step program. Stay away from the opposite sex for a year and dont make any major decisions for a year. You are a divine child of the universe and deserve much much more. The help is there for the asking, reach out,...they want to help as others have helped them.

I would say it depends. I used to drink almost everyday till I passed out, but I wouldn't consider myself an alchoholic. When I had enough, I stopped. And I didn't need the alchohol. Can you? You say every other day, can you drop it down to a couple nights a week, and not have to pass out before you stop and be fine with that? If you require the alchohol to function, and need it, can't live without it, go crazy if you don't have it, then yes, you are an alchoholic. But if you have control still, and can have a 6pack of beer in the fridge for a week and not touch it, then I think you're doing ok. Might need some help, but not an alchoholic.

My Friend: If you are drinking every other day until you pass out, you have a serious problem. If you have to drink every other day, then you are an alcoholic. If you are drinking every other day just to experment, you are flirting with danger of becoming an alcoholic. Face the facts. It can do you no good to proceed on this road. Admit you have a problem. Get help NOW. This is no game. Get out your phone book and call A.A. You could use their help. God Bless You.

Yes... if you blackout when you drink you have alcohol abuse ( i learned that from my alcohol counselor) I don't know how old you are but it almost seems normal for people to say things like that at college..but it is a problem..When I drink I don't socially drink I can't I just keep drinking until im trashed because as soon as I feel tipsy I want more and more..but ive almost killed myself many times and im only 19.. Drink responsible before something serious happens to you..

An alcoholic is someone who continues to drink despite negative consequences. So if you have had them and continues to drink you are an alcoholic despite how much you drink or whether or not you pass out or how often you drink.
