it depends on if the players are paying attention. If they are a bunch of donks and don't pay attention, then it's not that important. If they are good players, then your image is important.

An example is a table that doesn't pay attention to the guy who hasn't played a hand in two hours. He suddenly raises. Those bad players will call him to try and get lucky.

Another example is a table full of solid players. They know that the same player probably has aces or kings, and will fold.

So it really depends on who you are playing against.

Your table image is very important.

When people learn to play poker, they begin by figuring out what hand they are holding. Later they start to learn the odds of drawing to certain hands and understand that in most cases they should fold an inside straight draw.

As they become better players they learn how to put other players on hands, and start to consider what their opponents might be holding. This stage can take years to master.

Really good players progress to the next stage which is considering what hand an opponent is putting them on.

Putting players on hands and understanding what hands opponents think you are on is all part of the game. Betting patterns, tells, experience, knowledge, history and some other factors will provide this important information. But table image will certainly be important too.

If a player sits down at the table and after ten hands you notice he has played eight, you know he is playing loose. If he is astute he may realize that his opponents have realized this and use this table image to his advantage in a later hand. Similarly if a player shows two bluffs in a row, he might play a future hand knowing that his table image is one of a bluffer.

So table image is very important indeed. It is a source of much information, and misinformation at the table. Your ability to read and portray this information, may have a profound effect on your game.

The image you portray will hopefully give the desired result based on your type of play. if you can really make people believe that you are a tight conservative player, then you can pick up a lot of pots. If you project an image of being a good player, you may scare people out of pots by adding that with aggression. be careful though, often times, information that you give out is more easily used against you, hence the aim to look neutral

image is not important people like mike caro (a proffesional player) will tell you it is.what is important is knowing what other players think of you if you have been playing tight then you know that at an observant table you can make a few bluffs.also if your at an observant table and you have had quite a few good hands in a row people will think you are loose then you know it will be harder to bluff but when you pick up your next good hand you know people will probably assume your bluffing. It is important to know what image you are portraying but it is not important to go out of your way to make a image for your self as caro suggests.in case your curious what caro suggests then i will tell you he says if your tight you should act crazy at a table and loud he also says if your a loose player you should act quiet and meek.this is the 21st century though and people can easily tell your putting up a front anyway good luck see ya

The images on the cards are what's important. Do you have a good hand? Will you be able to parley that hand? What are the odds. Be honest about it to yourself.

Depends.... sometimes your at a table with a bunch off drunks and thus it doesnt matter as much. Other times what they are thinking about you can be a big factor.
