Beleif in God is inherent by our creater. Everyone, even those who claim to be atheist believes in God by their narure.
Belief in different religion is due to parent and environment.
There is a small minority who think beyond their birth and environment and study other religions thorughly and select correct one. These are essence of humanity.

This question is similar to the one asking what is wrong with the big bang theory. The proof is in creation. Everything you see in nature around us did not happen by accident. It is intelligent design- a creator. The big bang theory and evolution don't make sense. You cannot take a clock apart, put it in a box, and then shake it until you have a working clock again! It doesn't matter how long you shake it, it just won't happen by accident. There was intelligence behind it. The bible mentions that the evidence is in His creation. Some choose not to see it...
Then there's prophecies fulfilled. If that isn't convincing then nothing is! It's funny how some people will put faith in someone like Michael Jordan to make a game winning shot with time running out (because he's proven he can do it), but don't put faith in bible prophecy being fulfilled even though it has proven it can do it!

If you want actual, hard evidence as proof, then you are going to be out of luck. It just isn't that easy. I can hardly blame anyone for not being religious, due to the absence of scientific, documented evidence.
Personally, I felt moved by God. I was raised as a Christian in a Christian family, but it used to be semantics and trivial knowledge until I hit rock bottom in my life. I had had it pretty rough for a while when I talked to a serious Christian friend. He got me thinking, and more importantly, feeling. I think that I was just opened up to the spiritual side of me by listening that day. Since then, I have felt a presence which I attribute to being God- courage when I need it, strength when it seems impossible to have any willpower left, and all of the other cliches. (They may be cliche, but it really is the best way to describe it.)
If you wanted a more hardened piece of evidence, I suggest a book (series) entitled A Case For The Creator, and the A Case For Christ. The author, (Lee Strobel?) was an atheist historian, and he set out to disprove Christianity. He ended up finding more proof in the other direction, and he converted. His information is entirely factual, and everything is cited and referenced in an extensive bibliography. He basically supports Christianity based on logical and archeological arguments, and the books are extremely well-written. If you are serious about finding out more, read them. They helped me.

I think when the supposedly mythical Saraswati River (an ancient holy river often grouped with the Ganges, Godvari, and similar rivers) was found to actually have existed, as proven by satellite images, that's when I realized there could be something to Hinduism.
Of course there is a heavily spiritual component, but there are things that exist and are tangible that lend some proof to the veracity of religion.

Proof of the supernatural has been something that has been a large part of my life but has also been taken away from my memory as well. The Lord giveth (proof) and the Lord taketh away.(memory) Someones special effects whoever it its. The most interesting were the healings. Some people were created from the earth and it's minerals. That was extreme.

Christianity is indeed spiritual, but it can be applied to all aspects of life. It is in applying Christian instruction to our behavior and Christian principles to our lives that we set the stage for experential proof - proof from our experiences. Is my life better due to Christianity, am I treating people better, am I more under control of myself, have I forgiven myself and others, am I more thankful for the simple things in life, do people see a positive change in me? There are so many self-exploratory questions that one could ask themself involving Christianity. Do I have real peace and joy? Is this so wonderful, that I can hardly keep it to myself? Am I a different person? Do I know God?
These are the hypothetical questions that Christians try to answer. A principle from the word of God is applied to life, it is tested. The results are examined and the information obtained, if any, is placed onto special library shelves called Faith, Wisdom, and Love, all lessons learnt. Funny, no one can do your experiments for you, it's all subjective. Peace.

I find proof of God with every breath I take. We need to be careful how things are worded. Most Christians will agree they do not follow a religious legalism or religion. True Christians focus on Christ...Jesus is a Christian's standard to follow.

Read "more then a carpenter" its basically just states why this one professor believes Jesus is the messiah, which is pretty interesting, he gives hundreds of sources that all are very convincing. As well as just the bible itself, a lot of it can be found to be true in just overall history in coordination of what the bible states. For instance there was a great flood (Noah's arch) and there was some sort of uprising in Egypt (Moses). I always find it interesting how there are so many coincidences, I dont know, you can look it up for yourself if you find it interesting, but definitely check out that book if u are really curious.

The proof came after conversion. The desire to do the sinful things I loved to do before was gone.I even had an unexplainable love for people whereas before I sat around skulking, thinking about how much I disliked them.Jesus is real, but you have to be real to experience Him.
