In my opinion, neither one is the best way to lose weight. Liposuction is when a doctor uses a machine that has a long wand on it, that literally sucks up your fat on various body parts. The surgeon will make several cuts on your body and place this wand like machine inside and it acts like a vacuum cleaner of sorts and vacuums the fat right out of your body. However a person that has this done can easily regain the weight removed.
Gastric Bypass is a procedure that restricts the amount of food a person can intake and makes you lose weight. However both procedures are and can be quite dangerous and risky to have.
Being overweight is no picnic for anyone who has a weight issue. It is easy to be enticed by surgeons and other people to have these weight loss procedures done, but my best advice to you to give to your friend is to research all the pros and the cons before having either of these surgeries done or any other weight loss surgeries. The risks often out weigh the benefits.
Good luck to your friend and I hope that he or she will consider everything first before deciding any type of weight loss surgery.

Gastric Bypass Surgery they reduce the size of your stomach, therefore making your food intake less than you'd usually eat.
Liposuction removes fat from the area.
Gastric bypass is more permanent. The thing most people don't know about Liposuction is that fat cells do not have a limit on expansion.
So you can remove the fat, but if you continue with unhealthy eating habits and don't exercise, you can gain the weight back that you had taken off.

Lyndee has described both very well.
I just want to add that with the gastric op, even though the idea is to leave you with a smaller stomach, so one presummably get full faster....if one continues to overeat, one will still gain weight.
No operation should be taken likely. The gastric bypass is INCREDIBLY invasive and dangerous. Let's face it, it's removing part of a pretty major organ! People may survive the surgery, but there is a VERY high risk of dying within the first year after.
I've considered it myself, after years of dieting. I probably would have to actually gain some more weight to be able to qualify -- I think. However, I decided I'd rather eat sensibly and exercise some, than risk something so very serious.
I know of a friend of a friend who died from it last year. MY sister-in-law just had it, so I have to worry about her.

Gastric bypass restricts the amount of food you can eat and how it is digested, resulting in weight loss. Liposuction just sucks out the fat.

are you serious? Lipo they suck the fat out of a certain part of your body... Gastro bypass is just what it sounds like. They alter the route or size of your gastro system so you get full off a small amount of food, thereby you lose weight....
Hope that helps....

Baggy clothes hide your body and encourage lounging around. So no matter if you're relaxing at home, wear fitted clothes to help keep you on track.
