Yes, of course it could be fatal if we don't take precautions at an early stage. According to Vikram Sarabhai(consultant, pulmonology, intensive care and sleep medicine, Escorts Heart Institute) "Snoring is not normal and is caused due to excess loose tissue in the upper airway vibrating during sleep."

Such patients need to take care as if snoring becomes the habit there could be weight gain, such patients cannot avoid sleep and can sleep anywhere, anytime even while driving.

In extreme cases the Pickwickian Syndrome,. says Sarabhai. "Its charaterised by obesity, sleepy eyes, double chin and a pot-belly"

It may also lead to memory loss, depression, high BP, quick to anger, obesity problem etc.

So, taking early precautions is necessary.

Most of the time snoring is not a health risk to the snorer, but snoring resulting from a significant obstruction of the breathing passage can be an indication of the potentially life-threatening disorder sleep apnea.

I dont think snoring cn be fatal fr the person snoring...... though they say its the symptom of some heart /nasal problems......... but i knw a person, whose snoring is fatal for others in the neighbourhood!

Well, it indictes spleep apnea which can increase a person's chance of stroke and heart disease.

SOME PEOPLE HAVE SEVERE SLEEP APNEA WHERE THEY STOP BREATHING....SO I'D SAY YES IT CAN BE FATAL.
