Repent and trust Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross as a substitutionary payment for your sins. There IS no earning your way to Heaven. Assurance is through Jesus ONLY.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The resurrection of Christ. The claims made by Jesus had to be examined and scrutinized closely. He claimed to be the Son of God. He claimed to forgive sin. He said if we believe in him, we would forever live with him in heaven. If anybody were to make these claims today we would consider the person crazy and I'm sure a lot of people thought the same of Jesus in his day. But one thing that sets Jesus apart is his fortold death and resurrection. Without the resurrection there would be no basis of belief and no assurance that Jesus is who he said he was. I have to believe him.

We cannot assure ourselves that we are saved - that assurance comes from God.
Romans 8:38, 39 - For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principlaities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 - Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is no such thing, so there are no answers to this in the bible. Considering the number of errors in the book (there are hundreds), there probably aren't answers to much of anything in the bible.
