Sadly, from my own experience, those who do not believe in God seem to be more open minded.

Do you mean by statistics or philosophically speaking?
I think that among both camps -- theists and atheists -- the most open minded ones are those who specify what they mean by the idea of God before debating about His existence or non existence. Maybe they both are trying to prove the same point from different ends.
I personally see God as a Universal Intelligence, a certain law or principle by which we are all created and operate; there are things out there that work regardless of our beliefs or limited knowledge. So God believer or not a God believer, we all have got to keep our minds open, because we only know 4% of whatever there is out there and 96% remains undiscovered. so the possibilities are infinite.

But as for open minded, people who don't believe in God tend to be more open minded simply because they don't actually know what they believe, if people have a belief then you get people on both sides just as stubborn.

Quite clearly those who don't. A theist starts with a conclusion (that there is a god) and closes his mind to, or manipulates all evidence that calls into question his assumption. An Atheist starts with an open mind, educates himself, studies the various religions and is left with the inescapable fact that none is remotely credible. To say theists are more open minded would be the epitome of cluelessness.

People who don't believe in God are more closed minded. They will not accept people who do. People who do believe in God are open to the possibility that they are wrong. They take it on faith, but won't be terribly disappointed if they die and nothing happens.

In my mind the people who refuse to believe that there could be some sort of supernatural being with extraordinary power are closed minded. They'll say they're open minded because they don't buy into it, but they are just as closed minded for refusing to entertain the notion of an almighty being.

open mined to what ? to me Belief in A God is very narrow minded in itself as it denies all contentions that question and only lends a deaf ear to those who have a differing opinion. they probably say the same about me but I went through thirty some odd years as a believer that they never can balance out .

You'll find very open and very closed minds inside all kinds of heads.
Religion is sometimes a symptom of closed-mindedness, but many religious people are very open-minded. Conversely, many atheists try to proselytize others into their unbelief in God with an almost religious fervor....

I am extremely open minded and I am a Christian. But I do only speak for myself, that's true. I don't really know about everybody else

If you can look at creation and see
the mystery of tomorrow, you probably
have been blessed with an open mind.
