I was told by the lexus dealership it was the lower hose...I looked and I can't even tell where the lower hose goes because its right up against the belts...I hope the person I spoke to at lexus was mistaken (wrong year?)because if she was right its going to be a major deal to get it changed...

If the dealer told you it was going to be a major deal to change it. I would have to believe them. I've seen some thermostats that an alternator and a power steering pump. Had to be removed to get at it. Under the hood any more on cars is getting pretty crowded.

Follow the upper rad hose to the engine and there will be a housing there with the thernostat in it. Be sure when reinstalling it the spring goes toward the engine. If you install it backward it will overheat in about 3 minutes. If your engine is overheating, generally the thermostat isn't the problem. It is the cooling fans not operating properly.
