Didn't God make him in a state of grace (sinless)? How did evil thoughts appear in Satan's mind so that he decided to rebel against God? Those thoughts had to come from somewhere! - either from WITHIN Satan (meaning he wasn't created free of evil) or from WITHOUT him (meaning evil already existed before Satan rebelled, and Satan was tempted by it!) Or did Satan create evil (making him a co-creator with God?)

It would seem that Lucifer was not created in a state of moral perfection, which suggests that angels aren't perfect.

All heavenly creatures are created of a free will.

Satan was not created as evil. He was created as the most beautiful creature. He was the perfection of beauty. He was a Cherub of God with many power & a large number of angels under his controll. There was nothing hidden from him.

But, being filled with pride he thought become a god above his creator. Thus he was casted out and became Satan (One who stand against the will of God Almighty). God gave him oppertunity to repent and turn to God till the Cricification of Jesus Christ. But he did not.

Evil was not created by Satan or created by God before Satan rebelled.
But evil is the will that against the will of God. So evil originated from satan.

I think that Satan was created to serve God but was given the free will to do so, and eventually thought that he could do better than God so he rebelled. I don't remember hearing anything about the state of grace, and even so, the free will would have been applied.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Hi, hope this helps, I found it from a website called bible.org...
From Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel, we gain vitally important information about Satan which is most helpful in understanding His activities throughout history. He is a created being, who was without sin in the beginning (Ezekiel 28:15). He is an angel, a cherub (Ezekiel 28:16). He was created wise, beautiful, and powerful. His beauty, splendor, and power led to his downfall, because he did not receive these as a gift from God. Instead, he took pride in what he was given. Ambition grew in the soil of pride, and Satan was no longer content with what he had. He wanted more. He wanted that which rightly belonged to God. Because of this he was cast down, and his position was taken from him.

Interesting point. Does it actually say in the Bible that he was created morally perfect? I don't remember, but I don't think it does. Also, Satan was not the only angel to rebel, so angels must have been created with the ability to choose between right and wrong. I guess they are just more resistant than we mere mortals.

Makes you wonder. Scripture in the bible says angels are still being cast down. Revelation ch.9. Do you think the evil one refers to Satan? So Does Lawlessness exist in Heaven to? What do you think of the Angels that were locked up to be released at a certain time to initiate a war that destroys a third of mankind? Spiritual beings must have a lot of power to influence humanity like puppets. I no large organizations of them.

Christianity started out as Judeaism for Gentiles. It made much more sense back then before the Romans got their hands on it. In the older Hebrew texts, Satan is God's servant. His job is to find faults in others. He works for God.

The Bible explains that God created many many spirit persons similar to himself. In the Bible these spirits are called angels. Also they are called 'sons of God' (Job38:7 ; Psalm104:4 ; Hebrews1:7,13,14) God created them all perfect. Not one of them was a devil,or a satan. The word devil means slanderer and the word satan means opposer.
The time came, however, when one of these spirit sons of God made himself the Devil, that is, a hateful liar who speaks bad things about another. He also made himself Satan, that is an opposer of God. He was not created that way, but later became that kind of person. To illustrate: A thief is not born a thief. He may have come from a good family, having honest parents and law -abiding brothers and sisters. But his own desire for what money can buy is what caused him to become a thief. How, then, did one of God's spirit sons make himself Satan the devil?
The angel that became the Devil was present when Godcreated the earth and later the first human couple, Adam and Eve.(Job38:4,7) ZSo he would have heard God tell them to have children.(Genesis1:27,28) He knew that after a while the whole earth would be filled with righteous people worshiping God. That was God's purpose. However, this angel thought a great deal of his own beauty and intelligence and wanted to receive for himself the worship that would be given to God.(Ezekiel28:13-15 ; Matthew4:10) Instead of putting this wrong desire out of his mind, he kept thinking about it. This led to his taking action to obtain the honor and importance he desired, What did he do?(James1:14,15)
The rebellious angel used a lowly serpent to speak to the first woman Eve. He did this much as a skilled person can make it seem as if a nearby animal or a dummy figure is talking. But it was really this rebellious angel, the one called in the Bible 'the original serpent' who was speaki9ng to Eve.(Revelation12:9) He said that God was not telling her the truth, and was holding back from her knowledge that she should have. (Genesis3:1-5) This was a hateful lie and it made him the devil. He thus became also an opposer of God, or Satan. As you can see, it is wrong to think of the Devil as a creature with horns and a pitchfork who oversees some underground place of torment. He is really a powerful, but wicked angel.
The lie that the Devil told Eve worked just as he planed. She believed it and so disobeyed God. And she was able to get her husband to break God's law also.(Genesis3:6) The Devil's claim was that humans can get along without God. He argued that people can rule themselves successfuly, without God's help. The Devil also claimed that he could turn away from God a all those who would be the offspring of Adam and Eve.
Of course, God culd have destroyed Satan right away. But that would not have answered the questions that Satan had raised, questions that could stay in the minds of the angels who were watching. So God allowed time for Satan to try to provehis claims. With what result?
The passage of time has proved that humans cannot rule themselves successfully without God's help. Their attempts have failed completely. The people have suffered terribly under the governments of men, which, as the scriptures show, have been controlled from behind the scenes by the Devil. Also, God's allowing time has clearly shown that Satan has not been abl;e to turn all persons away from worshiping God.
There have always been some who have remained faithful to God's rulership. You can read in the Bible for example, that Satan tried without success, to stop Job from serving God(Job1:6-12)
Happily, we have now reached the time for God to bring Satan's rule to an end. Describing the first step in doing this, the Bible tells of an important battle in heaven, which of course, was not seen or heardby people on earth. Read carefully the following Bible account:

War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and his angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was found for them any longer in heaven.
So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth: he was hurled down to the eartyh, and his angels were hurled down with him. On this account be glad , you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time"(Revelation12:7-9,12).

Lucifer has free will just as we do, he chose to be arrogant and prideful(both which are sins), he chose to use his free will for evil, instead of good. Evil did not exist until Lucifer chose to rebel against God.

The answer is free will.

The angels have free will just like we do. Yes, they are perfect when created, but they are still only CREATED beings, like us. They are not divine, not god. Free will means they have the choice to choose God or reject Him just like we do .
